FFVII Remake? WTF?

They made a FF8 tech demo for the PS2 a long while back, it was never remade.

FF8 also wasn't as incredibly popular as FFVII. If SE had released a FFV8 remake... it probably wouldn't have done much good. However, there is an enormous fan-base which would buy FFVII if it was re-released.

I would buy FF8 before FF7.

Also i suggest sony just speed up their damn PS1 games on PSP plan so i can carry FFVIII around with me.

You're in the minority, lolol

And WHAT PS1 games on PSP plan?

i sincerly hope this doesnt get made. One, why mess with the original. it should be left as is..
2, FFVII is the biggest fanboy game ive ever known, most the people i know when i say Final Fantasy they say "OMFG! SEPHIROTH!! 7 was the best! no others are even worth playing."
I swear i know two people off the top of my head that think that way, and i have always wanted to beat the crap out of both of em for many reasons beyond that.
but there are so many people like that...its annoying. i hate fanboy crap like that.
7 was a good game yeah, too common of a story but good. and it should just be left at that.
Now if they wanted to make a remake, why not bring one that was never shown in a next gen 3d form like 6, that would be awesome. They have already given FFVII fans a movie, and several game spin offs. That should be enough for FFVII.
the more they do for FFVII the more bandwagon fanboy it gets. FFVII is its own highlighted market now, overshadowing the other far superior titles in the series because its the only one that has been more expanded into other systems, further story lining etc.
I liked it when each FF game was a chapter, and when it ended that was it, the next game began a new cast and story.
but they broke the trend..and i have been saddened since.

Well, maybe people have the point of view that FFVII was the best Final Fantasy because it was the most original, had a driving story line, and because they might not have had chance to play the previous final fantasys.

The first FFs came out before I was born, on systems I didn't know about untill only a few years ago! This means I started on Final Fantasy VII, instead of getting a chance to play them chromatically, and it's only since recent times (with the help of the re-releases of them for the playstation and emulators) that I've had a chance to play these games, because I know without square re-releasing their older games I'd never have played them.

And you can't call any person that likes FFVII a fan boy, it generally was a good game, I for one certainly enjoyed it, and in my opinion was certainly better than some of square's more recent outings (X & X-2... Wait, just X-2) and I think it does deserve all the attention it deserves. Especially considering this was final fantasy's first outing into "3D".

What he said.

Me too, but alas, the world does not share our view.

I agree with Chasym 100%, why mess with perfection? I mean, besides the graphics of the time (which were excellent when released), the game was beyond awesome. And SE has already done enough FF7, and what can they truly add to FF7 that would make it better besides graphics? Nothing, I say nothing. I loved the game, played it for days, beat it, got the perfect ending with Tifa and Cloud, and beat it again to get the ending with Cloud and Barret, but after that, what else is there? The FF7: Advent Childeren was an excellent movie, as are all the spin-offs, so what's the point? They have already reached perfection with Final Fantasy 7, why continue it when it can't get any better?

you might.. but the majority of FF fans would prefer a FFVII or FFVI remake (personally I'd like a FFVI remake with a new engine of sexiness :3 FFVII's engine is fine still ^^)

and I thought FFVII wasn't completely done.. like.. those 1/35 soldiers of uselessness XD

Don't take this as fact by any means, becuase I doubt it's true on any level; but I read an article about six months ago that stated SE planned on re-making FFI - VI. They didn't state on what consoles.

id buy 8 before 7 too, but id also buy 6 before 8.

I said majority. Majority of FF fans I know (and seen browsing the internet) prefer FFVII to VIII

FF7 doesn't need environment improvments other than resolutions. They could seriously get away with revamping the FMV's and the sprites to look completely human. I'd settle for that as a "remake".

FF8 should stand as is, the graphics are perfect in their current state.

FF1-6 will always remain in my mind the wonderful artistic versions they have always been. Remaking them in modern graphics other than adding FMV's instead of some of the CS in the games is just plain heresy to me. It's just not right.

And to all of you saying you want 7/8 on your PSPs, do you realize the limitations of that tiny UMD? FF7 is at least 2.3 (third disk wasn't actually completely filled) full size CD's, 8 is closer to 3.5. Good luck fitting that on a couple UMD's but hell, I'd buy it. I'd rock out Triple Triad or Choco racing while waiting for the f'n DMV to call my number...

I think all FF1-6 could use atleast a new engine like this :P (well 3 already is getting it so ^^ yay for 3 which I've never played.. haha)

and Taur, a UMD can hold up to 1.8 gigs of storage. Wasn't FFVII on discs that supported 650mb? Hmm.. or was it 750 mb? bah.. wish I knew. How much did FFVII take up on the computer? I think a UMD could hold FFVII.. if not.. atleast 2 maybe.. hmmm anyways.. as I said.. I'd much more prefer FFI-FFVI completely remade with a new engine :P

Which won't happen, because I-II and IV were already rereleased/revamped extras for GBA, with V and VI incoming, and III being remade for DS(which never released stateside before then) If anything there will just be more re-releases in the future, but I doubt SE will put money into it to fully remake them with a new engine since SE isn't sure they would be able to make money on them, with FFVII they know they'd make money considering how popular it got, thus the whoring out of FFVII for everything it's worth. I for one would love to see at least VI remade with a new engine, but that won't happen.

FFI-II weren't released with a new engine though :\ just new pictures. FFIII is being remade with a complete new engine. If they remade FF1,2,4,5,6 with that engine.. that'd be awesome. FFVII is fine engine-wise same with FFVIII and FFIX. And ya.. FFVI with the new FFIII engine would make me jump for joy and run out and buy it as soon as it was released. (SE should really start making things multi-platform >.> they are losing out on money with that.. heh woot for sony and their contract with them -_-)

Yea, but considering SE has released I for NES, I-II for PSX, I-II for GBA, IV for SNES, PSX, and now GBA, V for PSX and soon to be GBA, VI for SNES, PSX and soon to be GBA(all stateside btw, not in Japan) I highly doubt they'd remake them at all, they'll just whore out the re-releases, we'll see FFI-VI coming on the Gameboy 3010 AdvanceMicroScreen, just re-releases with revamped graphics, sound, and extras to get them to sell. As for III, considering it never released stateside, and won't until DS, they wanted to make it something special when it finally reached stateside(legally that is) and SE knows it wouldn't have sold as well as just a straight port. For I-VI, not including III, NA has had access to all these ports/revamps/re-releases, and SE knows they do sell from the past, and that IV-VI are 2 of the most critically acclaimed FF's, and they may not want to mess with perfection by remaking them with new engines. Although I would enjoy a VI remake, it would be heresy to many others.

Heresy? Yes.. cause an upgrade in simply graphics is a big deal x.x graphics improvement would just allow the player to see a bit more emotion and whatnot on the characters :\ far more than the 8-bit and 16-bit graphics of the games could

But for many others, they love the simplicity of the graphics, I for one do as well, FFVI is my favorite FF, and yes, 1 of the reasons is b/c of the 2D charming graphics. Who knows what SE will do though, although FFVI holds a dear spot in my heart, if SE were to remake it, it would open up the previous FF's to people who never experienced any before FFVII b/c of those "charming" 2D graphics that they may not like. I would still just prefer the old school VI if that were to happen though.
