FFVIII was interesting story, but the gameplay failed imo. Leveling up = stupid waste, "limits" were easy and OP from the start, using magic = fail.. too many gameplay failures to make it a good game :| but a good story for the most part. And I think Rinoa being Ultimicia was confirmed.. wasn't it? I dunno, I agree with it

I liked FFVIII gameplay. Story sucked in many points.

Well since you necro'd it, I'll post this thing I wrote up a day or two ago somewhere else about what I think of Final Fantasy VIII.

"Fuck you. Fuck you you stupid piece of shit game, I wish you had a soul so you could burn in fucking hell for all eternity. This is by far the worst RPG I've ever played in my entire life. I would rather play X-2 then this abhorrent pile of repugnance. I was going to write up a long list of everything I hated about this game, but that would take far too long for me to type and far too long for you to read, so instead I'll just tell you what I liked about it - I liked the fact that you can junction things directly into your stats, raising anything from your STR to your elemental resistance. That's it. That's the only good thing about this game, everything else imaginable about it is pure bile, everything from the horrid draw system to the retarded 4th disc "you can't do jack shit anymore!" entrapment. How could Square create such a masterpiece like VII and follow it up with such a disaster like VIII? Actually, Square has been on a downward spiral ever since VII, since they've yet to make a game as good.

Anyone who thinks VIII is better than VII is a fucking braindead faggot who should go bury themselves in the pits of their own asshole(ok I don't really mean that, you know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder sort of thing, I just really fuckin hate this game). I thought the romantic aspect is what made the game great. Other FFs had it, but none focused on it.

That's one of the biggest reasons the story was epic fail. I fucking hate love stories with a fiery passion that consumes my soul. That's also one of VII's main win's - no love story. There was a slight hint of a love story, like one cutscene worth, but it was really subtle.

FF8 sucked ass, it failed in every single way possible except for the graphics. The game play was horrible, the plot was boring; cutting away to those other people from 40 years ago or what ever that was got annoying almost immediately.

I like a love story if it's done well, but they couldn't even make me care about the characters, let alone what they were doing and who with.

hehe... I don't think Square has had a downward spiral.. I kinda agree with the creator when he said that FF9 is the most "Final Fantasy-esque" game they created. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed FF6 and 7 more than 9 but FF9 was just pwnsome. FFX was GREAT the only downside imo was the world map being taken away.. oh how I miss you free roaming world map

No, I didn't really mean what I said, I was just using it as a way to express my hatered for VIII. If you knew me, you'd know I'm not afraid of saying anything. I mean Jesus, earlier today I said it should be more socially acceptable for men to hit women. If I can openly admit that I think I wouldn't have a problem with much else.
