FFXI-3101: Transmission error with lobby server

Wondering if anyone might be able to shed any light on the following error:

Error Code: FFXI-3101
Transmission error with lobby server.

I get this msg right before the menu that allows you to select/delete a character.
 
I was just told by a friend who's in game at the moment that they just announced a 3hr emergency maintenance. I'm not sure if that means everyone is going to get booted off the game though.
 
I'm constantly getting this too. I said fuck it and started to do my homework i was putting off.
 
Apparently the maintenance is from 19:00 - 22:00pm PST (7-10pm PST)
 
What kinda homework ya got, Zalt? It appears that I got some free time on my hands and like schoolwork XD
 
my fl shows people logged on, but i can't get on due to same error, then again I do faintly remember BoF not logging off and still showing online during maint when he was most likely booted



guess i'll be late to dynamis or it wont happen
 
No joy here either, funny enough I see people on my friends list online, or are they also stuck at the log on screen perhaps?

Oh well maybe time I did some shopping... ^^
 
crap, i just logged out of pc to swap to xbox to watch the hockey game and now i find out i can't get back in.

Guess i can finish up some other games tonight

EDIT: just noticed Ragnarok was down earlier and the cause was quoted as "Server machine issues". Let's hope it's just coincidence.

No coincidence, just check other FFXI forums, seems most, if not all worlds are having this issue. Can't check the POL site from work, so I dunno if anyone else here can to verify.
 
Would my POL:0206 be under this issue, because i can not log in
 
COD MW2 online here i come
 
if you we're already logged in they let you stay on until maintance started then it kicked us. had a few friends try to log on mules. they wouldn't let anyone log on that was not on before issue(whatever it was) started. is only 3 hr. will be over at 22:00 pst.
