This isn't meant as a flame...it's just a little idle speculation from a Taru with time on his paws...errr....hands.

As well know the X-Box 360 is coming out soon and so is FFXI for this new console and it promises new job(s), new mobs and new areas galore....all good for us the more long-term players. Now to my mind I can see 2 major problems with this massive expansion.

#1. You think our servers are laggy and over-crowded now? You just wait until they stuff another 500,000 NEW players in them and so far I don't see any sign of new servers opening and even if they do will anyone go to them? I sure won't move....I know too many really good people on our server and I may as well quit as leave and start over someplace else.

#2. Gil-buying....we all know it and we all decry it's effects on our economy and the soaring inflation rate. Now imagine how it will be when all these new people come in....and keep in mind that they will need the more expensive X-Box and if they're going to splash-out for that why not buy 5 or 10 million gil while they are at it? I don't hate or even get angry at the buyers or sellers except at how it affects other players without the financial means to do the same.

All this being said, and I know it's alot  , I have every intention of keeping at this game since I'm a hopeless addict and know more people in-game than in my home town

Let's all hope for the best but prepare for the worst by leveling a craft now so we can all take advantage of the influx of new characters and their freshly-purchased-gil :P

Thank you.

usually with an introduction of many new players such as the EU, new servers were established. SE also opened up the ablity to server jump to help gather an influx of both new and expirenced players together. I'm debating if I will jump or not, since a few friends of mine irl that I work with play as well.

I've always though it fun to corrupt the new world ;)

I agree with you becuz:-
1- World is not that big... its long but not wide so yeah we can't afford more players or mules.
2- Yes every 2 out of 5 people now buys gil according to a survey.Easy to spot em also... they go on long breaks and when come back you see em pop out all kinds of bunneys and lions. They don't even do Af 1 till they are 75! (most of em =0)
3- No xbox community is not really going to make it worse but yeah its going to increase the population but hey... be ready for some open minded fresh brains who might actually be nice individuals.

me to

also like val said there be new server to be interduce new little one to start crafting so more low in items will be sold and more low end items will be put up in ah. New jobs, new area sounds fun. hmm switching servers sounds promising can go to a new server where the inflation has not been corruted yet and where the high lvl can be gods for a short while till the new people get caught up 8)

New players will be a good thing. There's a pretty noticable difference in the mentalities of new players, and of veterans. A game needs both, I think. It's more fun to adventure with people who are still amazed at every new zone, and all the cool armors. For me, I stopped saying "Wow!" about a year ago. It'll be nice to be reminded what's cool again.

This game needs more items so people wont think they need ultra 1337 stuff... it just seems like this across all levels:

1. crappy armor with pointless stats
2. 2nd best but mediocre
3. unaffordable l33tn3ss

I guess I'm the odd man out here, because I actually dont' think we have enough people playing at the moment. Why; you may ask? Well whenever I want to play as my 66blm, I /sea inv 65-67 and I usually get like 8-9 peeps actively seeking, so I usually have a good chance of getting a pt. However, lately I've been wanting to work on some of my lower lvl jobs, but when ever I switch to my 26thf and do my /sea all inv 25-27, I usually end up with only 2 folks seeking. So bascially I figure If we have more people playing, we'd have more folks playing in a greater range of lvls. Am I wrong?

people with Xbox systems don't appreciate games like XI... or they'd be playing this and not blowing eachother up in halo

Gil buying has nothing to do with inflation. Gotta get that through your head. Its not new gil. Its just gil that gil sellers earned.

Yeah, I'm worried about the whole X-box live fucks joining. You ever play Halo 2? they got no problem cheating in that game.

Harder to cheat on consoles than PC, to be honest. And hell, most of the people on this board who play PC "cheat" to some extent. (Windower, TP apps, etc)

As for the influx of new players... I doubt it will be all that huge. We might get some, but I don't think it will be quite the flood some people are fearing. We might see a new server or two open up, some minor migration maybe, but in the long run I doubt there will be all that much change from our present situation.

I do not think the inflation will be that bad...alot of xbox 360 people will just be the same people on new system. I might get xbox 360 as well depening on my funds at the time...plus i would love my whole LS to switch servers

BTW I've been a socom junkie since before I have played FFXI and theres glitches etc. in that game and blowing people up and shit talking = /joy but i dont bring any of that over to FF.

The definition of inflation is when the value of everything goes up *except the money.* When these kids come up with gil that quickly and easily, no mater what the source, they have a tendancy to drive up prices because they are willing to pay the price.

I'm more concerned about the side effects of such events as well. Gilsellers "earned" the gil, but using what tactics? They monopolize NM's to the point where they control the sale of a particular item (ala Archer's Ring) thus driving the price of an item even higher for the sake of the fact that people have so little option except to get the item through them. How often have people bought gil only to pay for an item that was sold by a gilseller?

But even worse have been SE's half-wit attempts at controlling this...hopefull they will address it before the time comes.

My reference to gil buying causing inflation has nothing to do with how it's made....it's how little those who buy gil actually appreciate it. There's a saying that goes "That which is too easily achieved is too little appreciated" or words to that effect. It means that since they never worked for the gil themselves they spend it like crazy and pay insane prices that people who work for it can't afford to pay. Crafting has suffered the worst from gil-buyers since they can buy 5 million gil and then level a craft non-stop with that gil....They purchase all the available materials driving the price through the roof for crafters who need to earn their own money. But this is all totally unimportant when you look at it and realize our real concern should be seeing that we don't lose all our friends to other servers if they have another open-exodus period. But I worry alot so as I say it's just speculation
