FFXI Config

So I just got a new PC right.. and I installed FFXI on it and everything went smoothly in the install. However... my FFXI Config is EMPTY. Like, there's nothing in it, just an empty box and at the bottom there are buttons for Default, Help, and OK...........

I don't understand why so if someone could clue me in, that'd be swell :evil:
 
Your config is all your macros and stuff, if you can tranfser your config off our old one and overwrite the new one on your new pc with it, then youll have all your old macros and what knot ;)

hmm I suppose I could try that if I am able to network my old PC with this one, then just transfer the files and what not.

But the config is for game settings, like resolution etc. right? lol

I think thats included in it, if you cant transfer then i think your config will be small enough to stick on a floppy disc :)
 
well i just said that becuase thats cheaper then cds or dvds ;). Altho thinking about it you can email it to yourself

ok so here's what I did... I networked my PC to Rappa's and stole his config from his XI toolUS folder >.> and its still the same story on my PC
 
Oh well um...bugger :D

Make sure thats the only config file you need, there may be several. Also make sure yo uput them in the right places, overwriting the new ones you got when you installed.
 
you're talking about the little popup window where you can change the resolution and whatnot right? not the FFXI config folder in the POL folder?
 
Ooh! Finally something I can help with.

Quick answer - try downloading the latest version of DirectX from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

Long answer - My POL was looking really pixelated and running really slow, and the game would give an error right after it went to full screen mode, so I called tech support. This was, of course, at a time when the servers were down, so I'm sure they had about 9999999999 other people calling, but I eventually got through.

The guy told me to open FFXI config, and asked me to change some setting in it. I opened it up, and it was blank o.o He told me that this is usually a sign that something's wrong with DirectX. I updated to 9.0, and after that, the config menu was back, POL ran fine, and the game didn't have any errors.

I don't know if you're having the other issues with POL or FFXI, but it's still probably worth a shot.

If that doesn't work, you might try updating your video card drivers... that's the other thing he told me to do.
