FFXI Connection Problems/Solutions thread

Im having the issue with Bastok Mines. My connections been fine all day, I head there to visit my chocobo and R0. Zone into South Gust, ok np. Zone back into Mines, R0. Log in on mule and zone into mines, R0. Zone back into markets, np. Rather annoying.
 
Dial up option worked for me. Too bad I only have 20 hours of it per month >.<
 
Bastok Port at R0 since Friday afternoon. Patches downloaded all successfully. Since I got the error as my character got off the airship, my character is bound behind the door so I can't even zone. By the way, Tech Chat is a waste. The guy pasted two messages and disconnected. Basically said 1) checking your question, then 2) it is not on our side, it is an ISP problem we are looking into it. Rather than talk to you about something I've heard all day I am off to find a different problem.

trying to change jobs in rabao and i got the R0.. so i'm stuck there
 
heres a new one for all those saying its signet zones only, I R0 in ASSAULT

Just got same problem in Lamia 13 assault, so add Ilrusi atoll assault to the list
 
MY video driver crashed in kazham, then i couldnt log back on after, tryed later without using windower and it worked. logged off, and couldnt get onto POL with windower... maybe its a windower relate problem? i doubt it but maybe

edit, now its working with windower, i dunno
 
When I changed my router info like in the OP directions. Now I DC in Tahrongi.
 
has anyone tried reinstalling FFXI? I know its a bit extreme but maybe it can work.... still stuck in Yhoator Jungle.

no but im thinking i will seeing as when i ran a system check for files in POL i came across 191 corrupt files that cant be repaired via POL.
 
Every zone from Windy waters > the Hor. Ruins won't work for me. R0 out the ass.

Well i have it both for PC and Xbox360 so i will try and let you guys know
 
Add Valkurm Dunes to the list. Might be because I'm on PS2. Not terribly sure.

On this PS2 note. What might I do to fix it? Already installed the update and all that stuff. Any ideas?

Well my character has been stuck in Riverne since Sat afternoon and SE won't move me to my home point.. So I get the idea tonight to go to a friends place and try loggin on a different ISP, different Router, different MAC address, different IP... (see all the previously mentioned possible fixes)... I also did a check on all pol and ffxi files before logging in to find no problems with any files...

Lo and behold.. I can't get past the "acquiring player data" stage of logon now..

So SE... please explain to me how the problem is on my end... :mad:

LOL my bud was gonna buy FFXI and join us in Quetz.. after tonight he's looking at Eve Online... i might have to do the same.
 
I missed Dynamis Windy on sat bc i cannot enter Windy walls w/o d/c -.-
So. . . i decided to send a GM a message, as this was obvioulsy a problem with SE's servers, not my computer (If I can travel though whitegate w/o lagging, i should be able to zone into windy walls w/o d/cing). This was my first GM message, i'v never really had a reason to send one before this. It took SE approxiately 24 hours to tell me (basically)- "Its not us, its you"

Come on. . . like really now. Cant they just say "Hey sorry, we're working on it" it'd make me feel so much better ._. iv virus scanned, removed other games from comp, etc, hoping for better results~ nada, absolutely no improvement. I cant enter windy walls or La theine w/o R0. I did a KSNM 30 ODS run today, after tele-dem i had to run to try to make it to zone b4 d/c XD at least it only took 2 log ins lol

This was from his good times thread about getting out of a zone. If SE is using this "third party" server then its still there fault and should get it straight.
 
I wouldn't call this a fix, more of a workaround.. but friends have told me that if you are having these R0 problems, and plugin your PS2/PC directly to your Modem, bypassing your home router completely the problem goes away.

Idk if this is true, (don't have the problem myself) but its worth a shot if your setup allows it
 
Just got off the phone with SE and I believe this has already been mentioned (haven't gone through the pages of this topic yet) but the rep I spoke with, said that they do have a "3rd party" server, and that this server "went down" and that they are in the process of trying to restore this. This is the explanation for all the connectivity problems.


Pretty sad that SE hasn't announced this on their website yet as official.
 
Adding Gardens (sky) to the list.. i tele-skied and got DC in gardens
