FFXI Connection Problems/Solutions thread

I'm stuck in Ilrusi Assault area

Only thing I can possibly think of is that everyone overloaded their ISP or SOMETHING. If SE had some problems, then they would fix them. It also seems like the largest percentage of people not having problems are the ones that downloaded the update earlier in the day, when thousands of people werent trying to DL it at once. Thats why sometimes changing your IP helps, and sometimes it doesnt.

It doesn't add up though that suddenly, after the update a very large percentage of North American players, across the servers are encountering the same connectivity problems, when they never had these problems before.

And as I said, the rep I spoke to only a few hours ago already confirmed that the "R0" problem that players are having, is due to their 3rd party server (sorry, he did use different terminology but I don't remember it word for word) falling apart just before the weekend. He was even able to ask and mention a few of the other problems players have mentioned here, and in the end told me that SE was working to get this server back up and running, but that their "high-ups" could not give their tech support office any kind of estimated time as to when it would be fixed.

Ruffy.. I took my Xbox to a friends place with a different ISP all together and still the R0 problems were not resolved. I run off DSL, he runs off cable.. I think more so than being an ISP problem its regional... every single person I have talked to in Victoria that plays this game is having issues of one sort or another.. all different ISP.. all different R0 zones (if they actually can log in)... all different platforms. So maybe some regions which follow similar pathways are experiencing these issues.. Not saying it's SE's fault..

btw I downloaded the update early in the day and was one of the 400 people rampaging through Quetz on a NM killing spree ^^

I smell server issue. Why not everyone? Our accounts are planted on different servers. Not sure how the architecture works with the zones though, but i'm sure whatever you acquire in a zone itemwise, xp, etc is reported back to your account server where your database information is. Also, you can navigate in these R0 zones fine while you are logged in, Homepoint, get off choco's, etc, although you don't see anything. You can send to SE fine. THEY cannot send to you for some reason. Corrupt data packets? Maybe. Will set up an ethereal trace if its not fixed soon and figure out whats really going on here.

i play absolutely fine when i connect my cable to my ISP modem directly but i get shafted on acquiring ffxi server data when i go through my router. i still do not understand what the f*ck is going on =(. we shouldnt have to change our network settings etc just to play. ESPECIALLY since it has always worked fine for past 2.5yrs. i know i have been repetetive by saying this but its still a bunch off bullsh*t

I cannot enter Bibiki Bay, Valkrum Dunes, Bastok Mines, or Promy Mea without getting the dreaded R0 effect, I have a character trapped in promy-Mea and cannot access the warp portal to exit it.

SE tried to do too big an update and something somewhere in it caused this I'm sure it will be quietly fixed soon and no apolgy will be forthcoming either, for to admit they buggered things up makes them gullty of not providing the service that we all pay for. If I get shody service like this in any other industry I am entitled to re-compensation, SE will never admit blame in this matter.

And here I thought changing my MAC and IP address fixed everything. Just logged into Bastok Mines to do some alchemy before Dynamis tonight, and sure enough, I get R0.

Hope they get this connectivity issue fixed soon.

My sis tripped on modem and unplugged it... After I plugged it back in I got let on, but haven't found any dead zones yet.

Im on PS2. Dunno what happened or what will happen ; ;

With my upset lastnight, I told Kam about it this morning. He personally wrote to SE and some of his contacts there. I'll update you on what I learn from him. I hope or wonder if this helps.

All that does is reroute the problem, so instead of getting R0 in La Thiene you now get R0 in say Port Jeuno when you didn't have it before.

Damn you SE.
