just curious...has there been any recent news of any of these? I know previous topics have been made, but I havent seen one in a while, and I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything?

I was considering coming back to ffxi...(sold my accnt, so id have to start over)...but you know..I mean if a new thing is coming out, I wouldnt bother.

any news?

IIRC SE is in the works of designing a new game. No name/reveal date has been announced... sooooo expect to be waiting 1-2+ years before you hear anything from it. As for expansion, TOAU hasn't even finished developing itself.

cool, thx for the input.

also..I was looking at ffxiah..it seems as though prices in general have dropped substantially since I last played...is the market just at a low, or is everything back to normal finally?

EVERYTHING has gone down in price, which means it's [theoretically] harder to make money nowadays. Deflation is worse than Inflation, because people are afraid to keep their gear because they think it could be worth less and less in the long run.

yea u buy an expensive HQ and sell it 1 week later for half the price wtf.

SE cant seem to do anythign right can they?

I swear to god our server is retarded in their inability to see that ALL prices are relative. Inflation, deflation, none of it means a damn thing when EVERYTHING fluctuates together lol.

Let me give you an example:

1 year ago:
Marid Hair: 350k
Ancient Beastcoins: 150k

Today:
Marid Hair: 50k
Ancient Beastcoins: 22k

Those are just two items. Most other things have gone down in price AROUND an equal amount of gil. Aside from items SE purposefully jacked (ex. Ig.Weskit, blm scrolls, thf knife, pallas/alky bracelets, etc).

they're always working on expansions. Just dont expect it within the year.

Well they could, since they release an expansion with just a couple new areas, three new mission, and everything else as "coming soon". They still have to finish ToAU though. :P

Yeah. My point is we'll see the end of ToAU storyline, and alot more content before they start talking about a new expansion.

Economy wouldn't suck so much if you couldn't sell equipment after equipping it (think soulbound). Then all money would come from creating objects either through crafting, drops, farming etc.

Reselling is what fucks the economy up by creating fear of losing money on a purchase, and supply and demand.

I think what you are proposing still presents just as much a problem as the current status. Many people would be stuck with certain gear choices and unwilling to upgrade. If I obtained a hauby and I couldn't resell it, I'd probably never consider upgrading to a hauby+1. The whole issue of upgrading from NQ to HQ on very expensive end game items is a very common occurance and when the NQ is fairly expensive on its own, most would never consider throwing it away to upgrade. Plus what about items that crafters make? They can sell items on AH, but others cannot? Seems like it would be a one-sided improvement for crafters and put all the gil into their hands rather than anyone else's while the current trend is to share the gil around to all players in my opinion. It sucks to be a crafter, I do know, but at the same time, even with the changes you propose, the competition will still be fierce when the materials for almost everything are becoming more and more common.

I've said this once before in respect to O.Kotes, but the idea holds true for most items in game. I said that the kotes average about 1 drop (2 max) per day based upon my experience as a THF (TH2 only). If that was the case, at least 1,000 kotes should be in existance by this point in time or close to it. With that many, that means probably 1 in 4, maybe 1 in 5 players has one and not everyone plays MNK, NIN and SAM nor use them all the time or at all. So basically, at some point the need will be satiated and the price only has one place to go, down. With the way things are now, an abundance of items always on AH, I don't see how soulbinding will reverse the current trend.
