FFXI Future New Jobs

The biggest problem about putting Geomancer in, is Mobs are pretty much tailored to their location. Aquans in beaches, underwater tunnels, islands. Plantoids are generally in lush areas with a lot of earth around. Majority of undead are in caves, with most of them being skeletons and pretty resiliant to earth. The only one that actually works would be Bombs and Volcanos(Ifrit's/Halvung & Zhaolym.) And thats because they retardedly made Bombs weak to fire in this game.

Didn't actually think of that lol And I always did wonder how a mob made of fire is weak to fire. I think SE was going for the whole "Fire will make them unstable and die" type reasoning, which is kind of ridiculous.

But yeah, that pretty much puts a damper on the Geomancer idea unless they wanted to totally rehaul the job. What they could do is make the Geomancer a support job and use the terrain to make the party's defense from that type of terrain higher. So if in aquatic region, the geomancer would be able to boost water defense or something of that nature. Beyond that though, I have no idea what could be done to make it effective.

they could make Geomancer use Crystal to use his/her Spell/Ability

i think time mage can work well , a job that boost buff like make regen last longer and stronger or make enemy buff last shorter and weak it and make debuff last longer

and shouldnt this thread be in General FFXI Discussion ;o

these are just some random thoughts dont care if you shoot them down its like a what you would like to see so dont care..

lol since nin is a gil mugging job lets add Chemist .. they would get traits to enhance items like Potion azulure(idk lol) Raises amount of HP potions heal.. you know random stuff like that auto potion would be neat.. think this job would work with armor that dispenses these items asap or something unless se makes these items stackable to 99(lol doubt it) but they would probably have good dagger skills and such ..

could work .. would be interesting.. and they could add items to damage foes too!

will add more jobs and crap later.. its 4:25 a.m and its time for me to go home from work and sleep!:P

Need more Mimic.
Screw BLU, I want Mimic AF.
Dammit. >=(

*not so casual edit* Yeah, alot of places do have set themes as Skaw said, but most places also have multiple themes - Yuhtunga/Yhoator has forestry, caves, and a waterfall area. Ifrit's has generic magma layout but also has caves. And if you're going by weather. Most places do come with two weathers (even if ones more dominant than the other), so it's not TERRIBLY unreasonable.

i really like this chemist idea, i think it would be nice to have at least 2 healer type jobs.

with Tag's tanking idea, i think if maybe they took the idea and added it to pld and made it so damage taken would be taken out of mp first then once mp is gone hp is then damaged. but make it an ability so it can be activated and deactivated. it would make taru plds a stronger tank and add kind of a "shadow/stoneskin" effect to plds.

As for a geomacer i'm leaning more towards Skaw on the idea. there are too many places where the job couldn't be brought to its full Potential. Though Dayner's idea of using crystals would be an interesting way to get around that, if they had it so using a crystal was less as powerful but still being able to do damage. (almost like a nin version of blm that uses crystals for spells)

As for the comments towards my own jobs... I understand viking=war, i'll change the name but don't let that hang you up on it though. and to the whole war/drg using a G.axe is a strong DD. I have Never Seen a War/drg unless from some noob that lvled drg as his first job after war. the point of the job was to get G.axes into the main game play and have a job that attacked stats along with damage.
Interesting Ideas so far, Keep it up :)

I like that idea, but they should instead get their own tools just as Ninja got ninja tools, instead of crystals

I used to do it, and I think Cmdr did as well. It does amazing damage, has an extra 5% haste from the Wyvern Earring, coupled with Jumps and such, which does great damage with a Great Axe.

yeah you USED to and the only other person you could think of was a MAYBE. I understand the game is designed to play the way you want to play and one shouldn't care about what others say about how you should play but after seeking for a week without an invite you'll realized that war/drg isn't such a good idea compared to war/nin or war/mnk. Lanien stop fucking making up arguments for arguing sake. you didn't even look at my description of my "viking" job, you Immediately jumped to the assuption that Viking=Warrior.
How about you pull your head out of your ass and stop reading the Brady Games' Strategy Guide and look around and see whats really going on.

Theyre bombs, though. Like any bomb, theyre flammable and can explode due to massive amounts of explosives. The bombs arent fire themselves. Thats what fire elementals are for.

Skaw's problem is probably that in previous FFs, Bombs absorb fire.

What about Druids? I'd love to have a nature-oriented spell casting job. ^^b Green Mage anyone?

Because Air, Earth, and Water aren't nature oriented enough?

Why don't you grow the hell up and listen to what people are saying. Maybe the guy with the level 75 warrior might know what the hell he's talking about; a novel concept, I know, but in this case he's right.

War/drg is still good, it's just not as idiot-proof and easy as war/nin since you actually have to pay attention. War/nin also has the advantage of not needing as many cures since it can blink away most attacks, making it more desired for cannon setups and easier exp. War/drg is still a perfectly good DD combo, it's just that /nin provides a greater benefit than simply increasing your damage in an exp party.

The only one with their head up their ass on this topic is you.

A lot of people don't realize that most of the past FFXI jobs are already in use. And the ones that aren't are either clones of other jobs(Viking, Gladiator, Defender, Bishop) pretty tricky to put in(Geomancer,) have their abilities already being used by other jobs(Time Mage), or be otherwise broken(Sage, Templar.)

Puppet Master is more or less Engineer. They should just scrap the job name and replace, given them a "Tools" weapon class, to which they're actually profficient in, and redo the quest storylines.

Rather than add Viking, which would largely play exactly the same as Warrior in defense mode, why not remove the defense cap off 999, and dump some heavy fucking defense equipment on them. Unicorn armor was a step in the right direction for "Hay guys you know you can tank too." That stuff has amazing defense, but can't compare to Koenig because of the lack of VIT. Add equipment that enhances the DEF provided by Defender, or some Warrior JSE that puts a Phalanx-style effect on Defender. Increase the jobs evasion skill.

This would still keep Ninja and Paladins as viable tanks since Warriors can't cure themselves, or have the hate producing tools Paladin has in addition to Provoke with WAR sub, but make people realize the job was designed to tank as well.

Dude, what the fuck is your problem? The reason I say I used to is because I quit the game several months back, therefore creating an impossible situation in which I would be able to still play WAR/DRG. The funny thing is that I would still outdamage a lot of people using that combination, so it wasn't a choice on whether or not I was playing the way I wanted to, rather playing the way that seemed fit for certain situations. I read your description on your idea for a Viking job. The fact of the matter is that your idea is weak, and your ideas are already incorporated into the job Warrior. If you hadn't noticed, many of the jobs in FFXI have several factors in a single job that could be previously found contained in 2+ jobs in older games. Anything that the Viking class had that made it unique has been added to the job Warrior and alleviated the need for a Viking class. Viking had provoke, Viking used Great Axe. Those are pretty much the only unique things to the class, which Warrior has both of.

Even furthermore of your idea of Viking being horrible, nothing besides the fact that you have them using Great Axe is anywhere remotely near what and viable future job could even entail. Random weather effects turning into a stat increase? Not only useless but extremely situational which would turn Viking into PUP's bitch. Thrash is ridiculously unbalanced. Taunt is highly unwanted, since most of the time, a defensive move on part of the enemy mob gives the party a chance to recover. And defensive move + dispel = no more defensive move, so it would never be necessary. And just going along with the idea of Viking, NOTHING YOU LISTED HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FUCKING VIKING CLASS!

It is people like you who are the ones who only enjoy cookie cutter jobs and a clean cut path to 75. Do you think the first time someone was playing NIN/BLM it was considered a good combination? Or NIN/DRK? Every job combination that has been tried has gone through vigourous testing. I, for one, was testing WAR/DRG, and to tell you the truth, go ahead and put me up against a WAR/NIN and I could probably mop the floor with them.

Having taken DRG and WAR to 75, I do know a little something about the jobs. I was never one to follow the beaten path. Hell, I leveled DRG to 75 just because people said I couldn't. I know people who have done MNK/DRG at Gods and done ridiculous damage, but no one ever would have known unless someone did it. I was a Warrior and I was a Dragoon, and you would be kidding yourself if you thought that when I put the two together, I was just playing around because Brady said it was alright.

Get a clue.

Wow Kalefury, serious business the internet is...

War/Drg is an amazing damage dealer if used/done right, think outside the box. Warrior and Viking are basically the same thing, look at past FF's, warrior has good skill in great axe and axe and I personally don't think this game needs more jobs when the current jobs need some tad balancing.

Adding any new original job would be nearly impossible now with all the current jobs spanning so much use. Would just be a remake of ideas from a few jobs.
