FFXI Game Recording

All right well im new to the fourm so i dont know if this should go in FFXI discussions but it has to do with FFXI so im gonna put it in here anyways lol. Sorry if it doesnt go here >.>

I was wondering if anyone knew how to recording FFXI game play to make videos. I've been trying to find a program for the past couple of days but havent really found anything. I found Fraps but it just doesnt seem to work for me. Granted I was only using the free trail, but I didnt really wanna buy anything until I knew it worked. Anyways, Fraps only let me record for 30 seconds at a time and boot me every 5 or so mins lol. I know somethings about computers but not a whole lot so maybe I needed to change the settings or something so it wouldnt boot me but I dont know lol I was hoping to see if anyone knew of a good software that lets you record as long as you want and wont boot you lol. If anyone knows, please let me know. I really want to record and save my first Maat Fight. Thank you ^.^ @)-------

If you want to use the full version of fraps you'll have to download it cracked. I downloaded mine using Limewire and it worked for me fine. It's really the only way i know of to record things in-game

There are cracked full versions of fraps everywhere. We arent allowed to tell you for fear of lawsuit so go get your own.

well the issue here isnt getting the full version of Fraps lol. I don't mind buying it, I just dont want to buy the full version if its gonna be like the trial and boot me off every couple mins or only record for 30 secs.

I don't think FRAPS limits record time in the full version. If you find the website, I'm sure it will tell you exactly what the full version does.

The difference between shareware and full version, is the full version can save screenshots in PNG and JPG format, as well as removes the 30 second limitation on recording. Possibly removes the watermark at the top of the video it makes too, but I'm not sure.

do you mean your ffxi crashes or..

Lol i'll be playing for a couple mins with fraps up and then it'll just kinda crashes ffxi and comes up with an error message. But from all the comments i think it might just be the trail version.

I did not have that with the trial version
that aint normal

sounds like its knocking your out of full screen mode and giving the error when the trial closes itself, just get the full version.
