I'm sure it could be made, but one thing to note with that database is that it uses a DKP system. A DKP system is basically giving a value to an item and then subtracting that amount from a person's total "earned" points. Basically it allows priority on loot drops by trying to make things as fair as they can be.
One of the problems I see, especially when used in FFXI, is that many linkshells don't use a DKP system. I mean some linkshells do but others I've seen base it on attendance, prioritized jobs, favoritism, etc. DKP is an excellent way to eliminate bad factors such as favoritism and makes things as "fair" as possible, but to make it work, a linkshell would have to have some sort of conversion method from non-DKP to a DKP system. I'm sure such a conversion would probably cause drama to already established methods.
Secondly, the "prices" for items in a DKP system for EQ & WoW are already established. Basically it's a universal "agreed" price for items. For FFXI, someone would have to create a fair pricing for all items. Furthermore, what is considered "fair" pricing to one linkshell doesn't necessarily mean that it's "fair" to another shell. Someone may say that the Kirin's Osode is worth "50" points. Another shell may say it's worth "100" points. Unlike WoW, where most items are specific only to a certain class, you'll have various jobs trying to get the Osode.
Anyway, DKP is a pretty good system. There are many different variations of it. A popular one seems to be 0-DKP, but agreeing on a price to charge for items would require a bit of work. It works well for individual linkshell forums, but going global for the server could be challenging. All your readers involved with end-game linkshells would have to have some sort of agreement on how much things should cost.
