Hey, I was just wondering if anyone out there could give me some good information on a decent gaming laptop computer that would be able to run FFXI well but not bust a whole in my pockets (like 2k or less). I'm headed to Germany on assignment in the military, and I'd like to be able to continue playing when I get there.

So if anyone knows of a good site, anything, let me know :D Thanks

I play on a dell inspiron 9100 and it works just fine. rather bulky though, wouldn't recommend it if you have to move it around a whole much.

When I'm on campus, I use my laptop from www.hypersonic-pc.com. I'm using the Aviator CX5 model with the following specs:
PM1.7Ghz
1GB of PC2700 DDR Memory
ATI Mobility 9700 Video Card
60GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD Rom
Dead Pixel Insurance

It ended up being around 1900 after shipping, but it runs FFXI and other games like Half-Life 2 pretty well.

You might also want to try voodoopc.

hey bro I been playing this game on my laptop since NA release.

I got a Dell Inspirion 8500 its the model right before the 8600 and 9100 came out. I got it with 512MB ram and a 64bit Geforce 4 4200 go card. Game is nice and clean runs smooth. Also got a P4 2GHz in there, I upgrade the ram myself up to 1gig gave me a couple hundred points more on the benchmark. I paid in the end 1500 total maybe much but now I'm sure you can find what I got cheaper. Or something better then what I got for same or a little more.

Its Great I play at Home, go to campus and play almost anywhere there, at friends house for some FFXI lan. I love it. Only thing laptops get massively hot sometimes. I suggest gettting a fan for it. I got one made by Antec sits under your laptop and powered by usb. I paid $40 for it in Staples I think.

Thanks for the posts, i found those sites very very useful. Appreciate it :D Hell yea D, i'm makin a come back 8) lol

Galix, don't know if you've already made your mind up on a laptop or not, but Sager is another good brand. I bought one about a year ago and it is GREAT! :D Take note though, they make most of their laptops to be desktop replacements so it will be just as powerful as a desktop (if not more  ), but will also not be very lightweight. Whenever I attend LAN parties, that is the computer I take along... You can take a look at their current line at www.pctorque.com

As far as coming to Germany... Don't know if its soon or not, but if it is get ready to freeze your a$$ off!! Its fricken cold over here!!
