Hey PC users,

My xbox had to be sent in for repairs so I have picked up the PC version. Now I've gone through some things to try get this on my PC(read:bought new graphics card and 10 other items just to run it >.<).

What I need help with is Items like controller, windower, and parser.

Controller:

I have purchased a compatible controller but I just can't seem to get it to work. I installed all of the drivers and set it up in the Control Panel but it stil doesn't want to work in FFXI. I looked through all the options in the menus in the POL screen and in FFXI but still can't find what I need to make it work.

Windower:

Where do I get a "safe" version and what version seems to have the least amount of bugs to it? I searched this site to find a link, but most of the threads I found were the ones of people whining about it, or discussions about it.

Parser:

I found "The Official Parser Thread". Is that the one I should be using? Or is there another/better one?

Also if anyone has any suggestions of extra things I could add for fun I would like to know those as well. The PC version has some things that are not in the console version and it has been interesting to see what extras there are.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Peace,
Shmed

it finally gave out on ya huh?

go with a keyboard dude. controllers suck for typing.

i dont use windower or a parcer so idk about those.

*edit*
question: did you send it in for repairs cause it finally broke down or cause you beat the keyholepeepinshit out if it for breeaking down? ;)

if you wonna use a controller, you need to edit settings in POL and FFXI config from your main program menu

Windower - ill send you a link when i get home from work

Parser - never used it. have it, but not really sure of its use ^^;

as far as controller goes, ill pm you later with my config setup. is it an XBOX style controller for the PC?

Iso is right:

Start>Programs>Playonline>PlayonlineViewer>PlayonlineViewerConfig

check "Use Gamepad"
then config your gamepad

Start>Programs>Playonline>FinalFantasyXI>FFXIConfig

configure your gamepad

Zalt: It's a microsoft product so of course it just died >.>. I only piss pounded it after it quit working. It's the 3rd time I've sent it in for warranty work and the last time was mid march of this year. The drives they use are junk and can't handle 50-70 hours a week of gaming.

Iso: I actually have 2 types of controllers. The xbox 360 and a logitech. If I can use the xbox one I would be in heaven.

Omni: and you couldn't tell me this before you logged out last night =P

Thank you all for the help. Except maybe Zalt LOL

The parser reads your chatlog and records it.

Then it calculaters useful stats based on it. For example you can turn it on for 1 fight and see how muhc damage everyone in your party did to it, add up the damages and you know how much hp the mob had. Run it for a whole exp session and you can see things like total accuracy%, % of dmg given by each pt member.

Should also note that because filters remove information from the chat log, you will need to change your filters in order to parse properly. If you take a look at the parse Dejan posted in his recent flameboard thread, you'll notice everyone besides himself has 100% accuracy, it's not because he has bad accuracy and everyone else does not, but that he has omitted misses by others probably to lessen spam. It's actually a good idea if you really only care about certain stats like just your own acc., your damage versus others', etc. Also, in heavy lag areas, information can be lost and similarly, SC damage is sometimes lost when you switch gear immediately after WS. Remember, if you can't see it in your chat log, then your parser can't either.

Yeah i don't remember if i noted that on that thread but i remember seeing everyone else having 100% acc.

Don't know if it's too late. The best drivers I have found for the XBOX Controller and XBOX 360 Controller is from redcl0ud.com. Not sure if MS updated their USB drivers since last time I used. But if you're still interested it's over here:

I've gotten windower to work so far, but the controller is giving me heartburn. I'm trying to get it set up like the 360 setup: i.e. triggers used for macros, right thumbstick set for camera. I get the camera set to the thumbstick, but the camera goes all wacky and spins in circles.

The drivers I have are the ones that came with the wireless sensor, but I will definitely give these a try.

Thanks for the help.

If anyone happens to have the setting they use with the 360 controller it would be greatly appreciated. The camera is still all jacked up so I might just have to bite the bullet and just use the keyboard.

Peace,
Shmed

OMG I never knew about that parser thingie. Thank you!! O.O

Now I can finally see how well my BST and melee WHM do.

Unfortunately the XBCD drivers will not work with the XBOX 360 wireless controller at this time. It works with the wired ones ;x

I actually have a wireless XBOX 360 controller (sans XBOX 360, I never bothered to own one). The package reads it's for Vista users, but I'm sure it will work on Windows XP as well. It's pretty responsive and quite comfortable grasping it. I bought the kit at a local Best Buy when I went to the US for a vacation. I'm sure you can use your existing XBOX 360 controller, although you may need the little wireless receiver for your PC/laptop (which ever you use). Might want to surf around online and see if you can find the wireless receiver vice the entire package. It also works great for my other games including emulators.

Hi Shmedly have you checked out the 360 forum ? If not check this out and try this simple fix for you're 360. Nothing to lose.

I didn't get the ring of death, but a white screen comes up an tells me to put the disc in a Xbox 360 to play it. The drive screws up and just gets worse over time. This is the third time it's done this, so I've gotten used to it.

Peace,

I picked up the wireless adapter only to find out that when I use the controller I can't use the triggers for macros like I do on the 360. I've resorted to just playing using a keyboard and said to heck with trying to use hte controller.
