FFXI on PS3

[Selph]

I'm pretty sure this has been asked before. But a friend of mine is considering selling his Xbox and buying a PS3. Now, I believe I heard that the PS2 copy of the gae will run on PS3 right?

If it does, what is needed, I know Sony and SE said there would be no HDD for the PS3, so will the game run as is, or will something else be needed to play it. If anyone could help me out here, that would be awesome. Anything needed to play on PS3 other than the same stuff u need for every other system would be highly appreciated on my part.

Thanks for helping out. (I looked for older thread as I seem to remember one, but didn't find it.)

I don't think it will work...
I could be wrong.

Install all the updates avialable for PS3 atm, this will make sure you will have the one that lets you install PS2 games that use the HDD into the PS3's INTERNAL HD. After that install all your FFXI Discs (PoL > Zilart > CoP > ToAU). Get all the updates for PoL/FFXI and start playing. ^^
