So, I have recently gotten a PSP as a gift, like twenty minutes ago =o

And I'm thinking of dishing out the cash to buy a 8 gig mem card and attempting to put FFXI on it.

You guys think it's possible with some serious skills? My friends and I have already managed to get emulators and a whole cacaphony of oldschool SNES games on their PSPs, via the ones pandora's battery.

We did get ffxi on the PS3, so maybe it may be possible to hook the PSP up to the PS2/Ps3 and perhaps copy the whole thing to it? yes? no?

If so, next up is getting a keyboard, =o

The PSP runs at a max speed of 333 Mhz and I think only has 32 MB of RAM. It's highly doubtful FFXI would ever be able to run on a PSP even at it's lowest settings. But don't let that stop you guys from trying. You could probably get the screen to display the game and have the PS2/PS3 do all the computing work, now that would be cool. :)

Yeah, I don't think it's possible. It seems like a cool idea but the graphics of the game would break the Psp. Also, I don't think the Ps3's Remote play would work for that.

Given the hardware capabilities of the PSP, it should be impossible to run FFXI on the PSP, there just isn't enough hardware power to support it in more ways than one.

Think of the PSP as a portable PS1, that is almost what it is.

the psp graphics are shiny like the ps2, but its really more of ps1.5

Yah I don't think it could be done.

If youre crafty, however, Im sure you could make a portable handheld PS2 (herro thar ben heck)

as others have said, PSP is much closer to PS1 power than PS2 even, there's no way you'd get it to run well by any stretch.

FFXI itself is like 9gb now, isn't it?

Huge memory cards exist out there but you're missing out on ram and cpu. Even if somehow you got all of it to work by gutting your PSP into a much bigger console, you'd only get a few minutes of play time. The only way to get around it is to change the power supply either to something much heavier or leave it plugged in. At that point you're much better off buying a cheap low end laptop that would play FFXI. You can probably find one for 350 relatively easy that would play FFXI.

really the only thing i could see getting this to work is if you somehow had ffxi already running on your pc and then remote connect thru your psp to your pc

my friend did that on his phone to play wow

it lagged like fuck monkey shit. but at the end of the day he could actually say he was playing wow on his phone lol
