I recently formated one of my HDD and reloaded a fresh copy of XP on it. I installed FFXI on it but now PlayOnline runs very slow and it looks granulated and ugly and FFXI won't run. I've tried messing with DX and drivers and nothing seems to work. Also, when I run FFXI config, the windows has zero options on it. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you remember to install graphics drivers? >.>

Try setting POL's process priority to normal in Task Manager.

I've run Alice and Unreal Tournament and they work fine. FFXI works fine when I boot XP on my other HDD. I don't know what's up.

wait.. I did a dxdiag D3D test and got the following errors:

Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)

I guess Alice and UT were just using software rendering.

It was the fault of the newest Catalyst drivers. I had to get some older drivers.

Thanks anyways. This thread can be closed.
