But really, was this worth ranting about? Instead of freaking out and throwing a hissyfit, you could have just, idk, INFORMED the people who mis-use the word. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most people just don't know the background of the word and picked it up from other people saying it. It's like the game Telephone people play as kids, where you pass a word/phrase down the line and see how much it changes in the end. I'd be willing to bet that it originally was used correctly, and has slowly changed as time has passed. Passing from person to person, as they change it and pass it on to the next.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here, I think this flame is a bit overheated for what it really ought to be. I thank Skaw for informing us of what the word meant before, but I agree with the others when they say that it's just changed and has a new meaning now; just the way things go.

I must admit, though, it was nice to see a little war on the flameboard again, with a wee-bit-'o-trolling to boot =P
 
Plus many cultures of the world use similar words with different spins of the meaning. Just shows that FFXI has its own culture and doesn't necessarily need to follow suit with other MMO's.

This definately didn't need to be on the flameboard nor did it need a condescending attitude towards those who don't know the origins of the term.

Hey guys cut him some slack. Besides, he might not tell us the origin of the words "Pwned", "W00t" and "1337". IDK about you all, but i'm on the edge of my seat and waiting for the next installment of "Who Gives a Rats' Ass Theater".

Yeah when StarCraft 2 comes out, Korea is shutting down permanently.

TP burn Kirin = not kiting, e.g. have 4 ridill war's tank it down, killtime should be 15-20mins tops

zerg = brd swapping, kraken wielding drk's etc -- killtime should be 4mins or less (ideally 98s -ish)
 
Seriously man, here's how its going to go down.

201X - Starcraft 2 comes out
201X (the next day) - While all of South Korea is busy spawning more Overlords, Kim Jong Ill slowly rolls up in a tank with the entire North Korean army behind him. Then before you know it, BAM! Kim screams "ZERG RUSH!" and all of Korea is united once more.

I really think that Blizzard is run by North Korea.
