FFXI POL Announcements

When Wings of the Goddess comes out, and the updates are made - these threads will subside and GD will once more be free of huge number of update topics. There is no need for this imo.

Dude, they were two different topics. WTF, hers is on POL events, Myrrhs was on WotG shit. Seriously.

I wasn't aware that Wiki had a page with all the announcements listed, thanks for providing the link Rappa. Something organized like that is what I was looking for.

I still think its too bad that something like that can't be setup here, seeing as we have a lot of people with an interest in it, and all it does is remove specific types of topics out of the FFXI Discussion to another section to make things a little more organized. Was just tossing out the suggestion again, can't really see anything bad coming from the idea, rather just making things more convenient.

Guess i'm bookmarking Rappa's link :)

And yet, a FFXII sub forum was made..... Funny how that works eh.

I wouldn't know. I didn't play FFXII. Irregardless, I don't think a sub-forum will be necessary when somepage and ffxiclopedia both offer what you're asking for.

Personally, since no one else is stepping up to say it -- I like the updates to be in General Discussion. I don't have to click a subforum to check for further posts in update threads. Maybe I'm lazy, but I like that QCDN is not an encyclopedia resource.

Just to reply to your childish rate down let me describe a mathematical concept.

Myrrh said:
Can even call it "Update and Expansion Info" and people can make as many stupid threads as they want and we don't have to have GD flooded with the same shit when people are making other serious threads(Not saying there are good threads in GD now but sometimes there is....kinda)

Update and Expansion Information. This is a group.
FFXI POL Announcements. This is a group.

FFXI POL Announcements would be a subset of the group Myrrh proposes because Myrrh's group would contain everything in Zerayla's group, and more likely than not, redundant information regarding the expansion updates.

By that logic, they are essentially the same request. I'm sorry if you can't see past my overwhelming logic. I know it is hard for someone so... emotionally involved on the internet.

People seriously - there is nothing wrong with the board. General Discussion was made to do exactly what it is doing now. Yet you want to further splice it to do what exactly? Reduce traffic to the GD board? Further split the sections? The QCDN 'trend' as you call it Kelyon, is to increase user interaction to the site. It has nothing to do with splitting forums for the sake of splitting forums.

I'm for making a separate section for FFXI POL announcements, but not for the previously noted reasons. I think it can be pretty annoying seeing all the posts in FFXI discussion section when they can be easily found elsewhere (as Rappa showed). It can be pretty annoying seeing people post the announcment 2-3 times and with a separate section they could easily see that its already been posted (as if its not easy enough now...). I'm for this, but more for clearing up the FFXI discussion section than for organization. Perhaps even make it a sub-section of FFXI discusion.

You want to increase QCDN interaction within the site, yet you want to send people to outside sites to get the information?

GG.

Sorry, I have an inherent fear of redundancy since the scope of QCDN is utterly microscopic to the scope of a cross-server site such as somepage.

Not to mention QCDN serving as a discussion board and not an update archive service. GD is meant for discussion.

Zerayla and Evanos are the 2 here with the best posts. They have reasons beyond just being 'perdy.'

Since your ignorance is so overpowering i will stop pressing the issue, let me ask one question. How does sending the members to outside sites increase the traffic on QCDN?

My overwhelming ignorance does not equate site participation to merely increasing traffic. It is a cause effect relationship.
