FFXI set for 360 release

doh .. ::grabs helmet:: it's gonna be a bumpy ride on updates startin any day now :?

EBGames isn't shipping the system itself until 11/21, so I guess people can have fun staring at the box for a while?

I'm guessing that's a dummy date, they wanted to do the 360 beta run at launch. I'd say Feb-March 2006 for a mass release.

so the current noobies are gonna be giving the incomming noobies bad advice.........

I'm really thinking about making the switch just for the doubling of the draw distance. That is if they don't release a patch for PC users that will increase the draw distance for us. We shall see.

SE were meant to help destroy the X box, not join them...

*Glares at box* YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!

Ill be making the switch simply because the PS2 version looks like shit. Period.

The XBox 360 will become the BEST LOOKING build of all avialable platforms. It will have:

1. More drawing distance (which you already knew, twice that of PC btw).
2. Higher Resolution (480p and they said 720p too).
3. Improved Graphics (that includes textures, lighting, etc...).
4. Voice Chat (That feature is ONLY for XBox 360 players and you have to access it thru LIVE's Friend List for it to work.
There is no Voice Chat feature IN Game).

As i've been playing in PS2 due to lack of PC 'cause im a MAC user. The choice is obvious for me. I'm jumping over to X. ^^

I currently have FFXI on my PS2 and my PC, god, I can't imagine having the 360 and having FFXI on all 3 systems... (shutters)

God damnit we better be seeing a graphics update patch for PC users. I want AA and AF at least available as options... I've tried forcing 2x-8x and 4x-16x respectively, and absolutely nothing shows.

Well actually, forcing 16x AF did seem to make quite a difference on equipment... but AA would still be much nicer.

I don't think so... when I first started playing there was an average of 3500-4000 users on at a time. Now that's down to 2500-3000. They have capacity for more.

Also judging that there's effectively three "shifts" across the world, I'd guess they have a limit of ~10k users registered to each server (obviously, we will never see all of the users connected to the server at one point in time).

..

the USA time zone players might get screwed because of this..

xBox didnt take off in japan like anything thought it would.. it was just a part of the gaming world over there.. xbox couldnt keep up with ps2 or gamecube.. so it seems to me like xbox may only add english speaking 'folk.. so.. there might be more ppl on durring US and EU peaks of the day.. but iono.. 360 might take off better in japan..

..but im also thinking.. most of the ppl who are interested in FFXI have already started playing it.. for PS2 and PC.. *alot* of ppl have either one of those in their house.. if they wanted to play it, wouldnt they already be playing it? doesnt seem like 360 is going to add that many players.. i think ppl might just make the jump to 360 from PC or PS2.. i know i probably will lol.. my PS2 is getting old.. time to retire it..

At first glance, this seems cool, but PC users can have essentially the same thing using Vent. I'm just not a big fan of paying an FF sub then a XBLive sub on top of that.

PC users can play in what you could call 1024p, so no to that one too. ^^
