FFXI Time out & D/C

Hey allll, Recently my ffxi has been acting up, by giving me a blank friendslist, unable to use search. And now I can't even zone into port Jeuno, I timeout every time.. And now I can't even log in.. Halp?

ps: Most common error I get is 0011, and I know it's not my connection because I can play all my other games just fiine.
 
could be a windower if you're using that, i know sometimes SE will patch a piece that will make windower users lag out when they do some specific task
 
As odd as this sounds, did you install any extra language packs for Windows? I had a similar problem a long time ago and when I called, they asked if I had installed the East Asian language pack, and if I did to uninstall it, that fixed the problem right away. I have that language pack now, but no problems.

Also, if you're using windower, could it be a plugin you're using on startup instead of manually loading them after you've started the game?
 
When that rarely happens to me I disconnect the modem and all the cables, let them cool off (30 minutes) and reconnect/restart everything. That has always worked for me, I hope it works for you too.

You can try the option that fixes/reinstalls(?) the programs in PoL.

I've tried logging in without windower, and I still time out, and I even had a friend move my char to a different zone, and still nothing.

Gattsu: No, I didn't, And it doesn't load even without windower.

Negorissimo: I unpluged my modems over night and nothing.

Are you behind a router? It's starting to sound like you have a setting conflict.

Also, try the file check in the PoL viewer, maybe you have a corrupted file.

I use a wireless connection, And this is the first time this happened in about 1.5 years?
And PoL doesn't have any corrupted files. :(
 
Oi

I have the same problem happening to me....I cant log in and when I do log in and select character it stays at the downloading data screen for like 3-4 min and then I get an error code >.>
 
Oh, you're on wireless? Is there anything else in your home that might be messing with the signal? Almost anything can screw up a wireless signal, infared devices such as TV remotes and other wireless devices have been known to screw with signals. You may want to consider moving to wired connections, they're far more stable in my experience, there isn't much that can mess with a shielded CAT3/5 cable (standard ethernet cable) and the signal it carries.

Good to hear you don't have any corrupted files though.

Just noticed the part about this being recent, see what's been moved around in your home recently, I'm almost willing to wager that something is messing up your connection or someone/something has changed your settings and is interrupting your connection on certain ports.

could use the previous version 2.3

whenever I get signet on the ver. 3 it seems to lag out a bit then i get it, also unlike with the previous windower and when i play ffxi without windower my pointer drags to the menus I pop up...

on ver.3 it doesnt do this, it may seem trivial but with macros it takes just a bit longer to fire off macros I arrow over to compensate of course but still. I'll probrably just use the former for maat fight and special events and ver3 for screwing around.

also with the signet everytime they come out signet giving npcs seem to have a "constant" effect on the new version before they are patched by the new updates to windower...? Possible for SE to find a way to break windower with it?

speculation of course and yeah rann i've been R0ing for no reason as well

I looked around for a good while and nothing has been moved, and nothing that's close enough to mess with the signal, I guess could try wired I'll have to go buy some...As of now I can't even log into PoL..I really appreciate this help guys
 
Myself and Shaddix both are experiencing this and I don't think its a user error, I think it's a POL issue. I've had things such as saying I don't have a content ID, someone else is logged in under me, the normal error-0011, etc, etc. There is nothing on the POL.com website about any connection issues at this time as well..... really WTF

Sorry I can't offer any more advice then going wired at this point, I can't really tell you much else without doing an inspection myself, and that'd be rather difficult XD

Alright Thanks for all the help though, It seems I can get to the Downloading Data screen if I'm lucky, but then I time out cause It'll never load.
 
I'm on a wired connection, and I've been R0ing and disconnecting for no reason at all, again. I'm just thinking mine is Comcast being a fuck up, because when my FFXI R0's, I can't access websites or anything. :/ It's really annoying!

Slight tangent, but I ran into this too with the latest version until I gave TimeStamp the boot and stopped having Windower load it. I snooped on forums and didn't see any other people complaining about it, so I guess it's not too frequent an issue.

EDIT: Never mind, it's right there in the list of known issues: http://www.windower.net/wiki/knownissues

EDIT 2: And as for the pointer-dragging thing, go into init.txt and change game_allowsetcursorpos from 0 to 1.

Im still getting stuck at the downloading data screen. >.> All my connections are
correct, nothing has changed. I'm still surfing the internet as we speak with no problems at all...but is crap...
