Ok now that i have a level 60 character i can compare games *never got above 30 in FFXI*

FFXI DOWNSIDES
-Searching for party for multiple hours/days
-Money(dunno if what they did lowered prices?)
-Language barrier

Upsides
-Multiple people that are very nice, give you a warm welcome, and you get to know people better because you have to party for multiple hours in order to level
-Non soulbound armor( oncey ou put the armor on its not yours permantly, you can sell it, in wow you cant sell it to other people)

WoW Downsides
-lag(NO the new patch didnt fix it)
-BUGGGGGY STILLLL!
-Numerous ass holes
-Can only join one guild
-At level 60, i find my self just walking around bored having no fun what so ever inless its a Guild MC night/BWl/ZG etc etc

UPSIDES
Can be fun when you want to have fun, if you can find a good guild you will like the people in it (finaly found one where the people are actualy cool)
PVP... not really pvp is fun but my god its so repetive ... and pvp servers are fun but suck cuz its a gank fest

o.o id say XI wins because you can play EVERY JOB on one charcter when your bored with one, WoW you can have unlimited characters, but who the hell wants to create 20+ characters and level them alll with different names
This is how i have found WoW after getting a 60 char in december(took me so damn long because of school and personal life) I guess you can say leveling in WoW is a hell of alot more fun than in XI do to you can solo more, and you can move around and smack things with your weapon and not have to be locked on :)

I've played both WoW and EQ2, and I stick with FF11 as my fav. It wouldve been galaxies is it was fun in at least one way, but it wasn't.
I think everything you've said is true. I've even got an old friend of mine that played as a whm to 25 and got sick of it wanting back in. He'll still play WoW but he recognizes the long term fun FF presents.

FFXI is more fun fun then WoW but i find the same repetitive thing in both of them... when you reach the level cap....... running around figuring out what to do when your not doing your End-Game things

I pretty much disagree with the amount of your FFXI downsides, there are many more, to me anyway. I also disagree with the WoW downsides you mentioned, but I only singled this one out specifically.

Joining only one guild makes for better guilds. A players attention and dedication is focussed on one common goal.

Very true there sculli. Then again I think the majority of casual players (I.E. Me) only have one LS. Haven't been there but I suppose higher ups use multiple for different events

Endgame normaly has three. Dynamis, Social, Endgame.

In my experience, when players in my social LS hit 75, they're never seen again. Sure it starts off at 70, with primary social LS use, and Dynamis once or twice a week. Then 75 comes and it's primary endgame LS, Dynamis once or twice a week, and pop on the social LS once a year for 10 seconds only to vanish as unexpectedly as one appeared. Soon enough, you have half a dozen level 75 members who are really only members in the technicality of having not dropped the pearl yet, and even then you never know. It'd be cool to have level 75's stick around the lowbies after endgame opens up, but it doesn't happen.

true true, but the thing about only having one guild is, WHAT if you are bored of that guild and just wana pop into another one for a couple of days, youd have to quit that guild and go to the new one, and your guild u just quit would get mad at you, i dunno i like WoW but right now im finding my self slamming my face into my monitor to be entertained!

I have to dissagree <.<;

I've played both games, and WoW is WAY to easy to be fun. It offers no challange what-so-ever. It is so easy to get gold it's not even fun, and the average skill of the players just suck. Not to mention most of them are complete self-centered assholes.

And although it's harder to get gil in FFXI, it's still easy, and I wouldn't say the prices are too high (except during the winter... prices raised with 300% <.<; Must have been a IGE sale-out or something <.<; )

And if you don't like looking for party several hours a day, do like me. Watch a movie, do some homework, read a book, hell... even play another game. You could even use the free-time to touch yourself if you'd prefer that...
All in all, I'd say FFXI offers a greater challange, and thus is so much more fun then WoW.

I have friends from both sides of the....world? One of these has played both FFXI and WoW, and she believes that WoW is more of a solo experience, while FFXI seems to be more of a group...experience. Of course, since I've never actually PLAYED WoW, I can't exactly make comments about either one.

Played both games here is what I view as the biggest downside to FF XI:

You spend hours camping X mob for X drop, however X mob pops and some random botter claims said mob. You are now shitfucked, not only did you spend the last 3+ hours sitting with your thumb up your ass, you did not even get a chance to fight said mob. While you camp NMs in FF in WoW you fight your way through a dungeun to face the mobs. Granted they both take hours but at least you are gauranteed a shot at fighting the damn mob.

World of Warcraft runs of instances, every time your party enters a dungeun a seperate unique dungeun is creatded. You know like multiple dynamisis. Something the developers of SE can not or will not duplicate.

In FF you fight crabs, crawlers, and beetles for the first 60 or so levels. No variety whatsoever. WoW offers thousands of quests which you do and gain exp while you do them, fighting a large variety of mobs. Its amazing when ppl in FF go nuts at the sight of a Wyrm, if they where to eveer see something like Nefarius or Onyxia they would probaly cream in their pants.

In FF you have to more or less use cookie cutter tactics, no diversification on how you play your job much less how you party. This is not the case in WoW, talent trees make each charachter diffrent.

The crafting in WoW is more or less a joke compared to FF. That is one thing I will give FF in its favor. Also the people are for more mature as a whole.

WoW is for casual gamers and for people who who dont have time to make gi and seek for hours on FFXI... WoW is more fun at times but FFXI owns it.

FIrst of all i'd like to put light on the FFXI's good sides you mentioned.
"People are nice they give a warm welcome"
wrong wrong wrong. After a week of being away i found out that i wasn't allowed to lot on something when i farmed my ass off for a year.People are nice in FFXI?? are you kidding me... tell me when a guild actually helps their members instead of sucking the living juice out of them to make the guild leaders rich n richer ( Might not apply to kaizen cuz i once checked nasya n it kinda felt cool that she had gear of like a normal thief so i bet she thinks for the guild more than her self).
in WoW my guild n friend list actually helped me get my SC set.My guild leader himself farmed for like 7 days straight to help me finish my dagger. And ofcourse i helped them back.Having one more than one linkshell is actually a downside in my opinion. And FFXI's missing soul bound is also a downside because thats the root cause of all that monopoly n ppl buy shit loads of gil.And lag.... i never lag in any game weather its WoW its FFXi or its F.E.A.R.E.D... so its PC based. And you forgot to mention the hostility people have in FFXI... all they want to do is pick on each other n gay out their game time by starting beef 24/7.
Another downside in FFXI is that there are lots of girls who aren't even girls =/ they are men!!! so u can't really know u are talking to a girl n it makes me feel wierd.
In FFXI greed is way too much... everyone wants to be pimp n they don't give a shit about each other. But well in the end it depends where u are and who you with.I guess i was unlucky n all that above might not be true.
And no WoW is hardcore if you want to be high warlord and want that sexy gear. Also BWL and MC are 40 man instances that go on for 7 8 hrs straight and require suped up groups to take down the bosses... just like HNMS in FFXI but you have to camp for hrs which is fckin boring to be honest.Camping something against people and that whole idea is just to useless... there is no skill in that

Btw i play on mag n like 2 people from qtz play there also.If you join n need some help i'd help you get started.

FFXI has NM's and crafting as the bonuses. The funny thing is 80% of the FFXI population hates camping NMs and/or crafting. Loading times for WoW suck lately though.

The whole "people are nicer in this game" is complete bullshit. Their are nice people and assholes in both games.

Ya you can only have one guild in WoW but look at the system. I like knowing when people sign on and off, where they are (one of two things FFXI linkshell offers), what crafts they do, everyone thats in the guild even if they're signed off, etc... guild > linkshell. Not to mention the friends list is amazing and you can start a party from anywhere in the world so when my friends sign on (it tells me!) I just join a party with them and use that as a guild.

You can start doing instances at level 15ish? I did Deadmines at 18 and I was amazed at how diverse the bosses were, and how fun it was.

No zones in WoW.

I have so much fun doing PvP instances I stopped leveling. I don't want to hit 60. In FFXI I rushed to hit 75 (well stopped for good gear). When I hit 75 I was like "well i'm 75 and have no time to do end game oh well." There is more to do in WoW while rising in the game. Ganking is not too much of an issue and adds an extra element.

I have yet to encounter RMT'ing in WoW so I don't know about it. But I do know about RMT'ing in FFXI and its FUCKED. Every fucking brat with rich parents gets items that you worked your ass off for weeks to get. Look at the economy.

I haven't done much endgame activities in FFXI so I won't say shit about that. (its broken)

**cough** Jumping. **cough**

WoW is less of a challenge eh? IMO it takes more skill to play WoW. The game is faster paced and every class has a lot more abilities at its disposal.

I hear a lot of complaining about Japanese fan boys on these forums but isn't FFXI a japanese game? WoW is American. Done and done.

The list can go on...

This debate has happened a million times in a million different places. I was Anti-WoW with a capital A until my friend convinced me to play it as a means to communicate (he moved away). I was amazed at how much better than game was designed than FFXI right off the bat. Only reason I want to play FFXI now is for the friends I made playing it.

i play on malygos, with like 8 different people from quetz, Jaykanish, Jobe plays a little, Runekane quit a hwile ago, harm doesnt play on the server much any more, etc... Yea WoW is fun but the people are immature little 5 year olds *fits me well lol* but i must say i have found alot of "beef" in XI, i have been in numerous fights with people and i got in a fight and flamed the person on the boreds and got booted out of Big fun II (was in Big Fun and Big Fun II) :| ahh well i dunno battle is still goin but i dunno who would win to tell you truth, XI is more of a peoples game you get to know eachother better, and on WoW YOU know EEVERY one just about :|

The key to eternal WoW happyness is to leave all public chat channels as soon as you make your toon, including Yell. Once you have done that, you essentially play a completely hassle free game. I am serious.

Yes it has, and guess what...nobody cares!

If you like FFXI, then stick around, quit complaining, have some fun, post something that intrests other FFXI players.

If you like WoW, why the fuck are you hanging around a FFXI board in the first place?

Everybodys a critic, but opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, and they all stink! (cheesy, but proves my point)
