FFXIII On the 360

ummm... VIII

Nope I disagree! I'm probably the only one on this board that liked IX but OH WELL. Guess people didnt like it here because it didnt have some Emo Kid badass leather wearing super goku powerfull BAMF that the japanese have been adding to their games lately.

I liked the graphics, character concept, the fact a character has unique abilities, a lot of side quests, fun, serious, and a well played out story.

VIII was fun too, just not as good as the other ones. XII being the worse because the characters had no great personalities.

Oh btw im not flaming you or anything, it's just the majority of people don't like it, but I dont know why. They can't say it's to kiddy, i mean the same people say they love Chrono Trigger? (love that game btw).

I loved XII, but everyone has their own opinions.

Speaking at E3 Xbox global marketing director Albert Pennello scotched rumours that any kind of “behind the scenes” maneuvering has gone on to get FFXIII on 360, saying that Square simply can’t ignore the machine’s install base.

“I think a lot of people assume a lot of things about why Square made that announcement,” he said, talking in MundoRare. “I think the most obvious reason that they made the announcement is just looking at the success of our console. I mean, we’re the leading console on a worldwide basis (LIES!), we’re more than double the install base on the US.

“I actually think it’s a great partnership. Square has done games for us in the past, and I think there’s a point where Square just has to look at the Xbox 360, the install base and attach rates that we’re seeing and actually has to make a decision on their own that it’s the right thing to do for them.

“So, I think people make a lot of assumptions about what they read or the rumours that go around, but the reality of a lot of this is that we’re doing very well, we have a great install base, we have passionate gamers like you guys that buy a lot of games, and a publisher like Square can’t ignore that.

“I think it’s easy to assume that something’s going on behind the scenes, I think the more obvious answer is we’re doing really well and the game creators want their games to be where the most people and the most consoles [are], and right now that’s the Xbox 360.”

I'm beginning to hate Microsoft's games department more and more now.

Can't blame the guy, I forget I even have a Wii sometimes.

I would like to get rid of mine but I received it as a gift from some very important people. It's no longer white either. I played the hell out of Baroque when it came out and ever since I finished it a few times I haven't even turned the power back on.

You know the Wii isn't in competition with the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 right? Go back to fearing it and saying how it won't be able to handle prerendered CG movies like a good little fanboy.

but Wii is in the lead of the console market :P even if people buy it and then rarely play it again XD

and ya, FFIX = best representation of a FF ever, even the creator of FF says so XD it really had all elements of what made a final fantasy from old to new.. well.. a Final Fantasy. Such a fun game <3 I still play it over and over again (as well as FF6 and FF7 and FFX). I think FFVIII was meh.. so many lame game mechanics that could use a bit reworking (I'll admit cool ideas, poorly executed) and the story was interesting other than the "GF losing memory" crap and Squall/Rinoa in general got annoying but ah well. FFXII is just so bland :\

Hypothetical situation; there are only three fast food restaurants: Burger King, McDonald's, and Taco Bell. All fast food eateries; two alike, one way different. Applyin' this situation to what the guy from Microsoft said, just because something is wrong doesn't mean it's not also right, and vice versa. Some days I want a hamburger, McDonald's and Burger King compete for my decision. Sometimes I want something different and go with Taco Bell, which has no competition out of the three. However, the choice that I do not want a burger could be considered a play of competition. See where I'm goin'? The guy is not wrong in what he said but he's also not right. I'm of the belief though that the Wii is not in relation to the PS3 or 360. Two compete and one doesn't, it has its own plane. Simple as that.

Also, I love FF IX.

Who said anything about the Wii not handling pre-rendered CGs?!

The main point of my post was that I do not like Microsoft's arrogance. Its bullshit. First, they only were the "Leading" console seller because they sold their console way too early, and as a result, lost alot of money and sales when the wii and (eventually) PS3 came out.

Second, Sales in Japan, They never had Japan, each week the 360 sells about 5,000 or less units UNLESS there is a huge JRPG coming out, which there doesn't seem to be too many of them out RIGHT NOW like Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey that come to my mind. They would usually sell about 30 thousand per week then, but that isn't even close to the sales of the Wii. Sure you can argue that the PS3 doesn't fair much better than the 360, but they gap is only by about 4,000 + consoles. Lets put this into perspective now. This last week, PS3 has officially begun beating its predecessor the PS2.

Third, Consumer confidence in the UK and EU, England is shunning the 360 because over here Microsoft treat us like SHIT when it comes to repairing consoles. That eventually costed them over £500,000,000 and less consumer confidence. I can't even imagine what the rest of Europe went through.

Face it, the only REAL way Microsoft will make money now is naturally in the US. The EU, UK and Japan are a completely lost cause. Microsoft's arrogance is completely unfounded.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

20 million is more than 14 million. Those numbers are spread all over the world. They are the world-wide leader of this competition. End of story.

Not really. I want some fuckin' Burger King though. Yeah, let's get some Burger King.

12.18 million of them in America :P he isn't wrong in saying that America is the key place they are going to make money, but I don't think he's right in thinking Microsoft is entirely screwed in the rest of the world, especially since according to that MS is still beating Sony in places outside Japan/America. In fact, only Japan they are losing.

It's world-wide because not all of them are sold in America. It doesn't matter how many are sold outside, so long as they are.

The only reason they aren't doing well in Japan is because the Japanese are xenophobic to the point that it's silly.

Except that people in Japan don't really care about JRPGs, because they have enough of them. IIRC, the game that sold the most 360s in the rest of the world (i.e. everywhere but the US) was Ace Combat 6.

Sorry what? What the hell is Ace Combat?

btw, that first statement about Japan not caring about JRPGs?

That is a line for Tales of Vesperia, a JRPG, only on Xbox 360. That was about 3 days ago. Now imagine that line at HUNDREDS of Tokyo Games stores.
