YAY I got my coffer key, old gaunts, level 57 and rank 6 all in one weekend!!
This sort of is a lil flame, a lil event, and a lil cheerz!! to ppl all in the same post. So stick it wherever you wish (NO pun intended that time)...
It started last week when a certain ls mate says-- lets do FFXI drinking games this weekend. Hmm...was supposed to go to the bar but think, to myself, "Self, you'll spend less money staying home and this could be fun."
As the week progresses, we agree to do my coffer key hunt in Necro. Rules are simple. /random at every 3rd kill or so and lowest roll makes a rule, highest roll drinks...If you die, get someone else killed or get a key - y ou finish what ya got.
In truth? It was REALLY REALLY fun!! There were only 6 of us..but high enough that we did okay..no major scares or deaths..well..until the end.. Umm..when I was midcast sneak on a drunk pld who ran out in between 3 skeles and yeah..it was ugly for a minute..
ANYWAY, while not something we want to do often, is definitely something we talked about doing again. If the key hadn't taken forever to drop we talked about doing random odd things...truth or dares..trying to chain every mob in Quifim (we didn't..so don't flame me for threatening to), etc.
I think that if we do it again..we need to be doing something much less...stressful. We even talked about some sort of ls called..like..IDRequired...for this very purpose.
Let's not analyze the pschology of sitting at home drinking to excess with other ppl in an imaginary world. Please.
AND THEN...
I went yesterday with my ls mates and we got my coffer.
AND THEN...
I got rank 6 last night. We got help from Presto..this really kind, patient jp player who has a 75 pld/rank 10. He was are guide to the BC and we sooo would have died without him. The leadership was average but all in all..good players.. Presto came as a 61blm, which was cool - didn't feel like we were getting babied all the way..
Our pld..Elwen? I'm so bad with names..He did great..kept hate off the Whm who had to use his 2hr twice. I was impressed^^ Duncanrun was the kick-ass whm. I'm gonna adopt him and his gf..two of the nicest ppl in game. Our drk was very good but I can't remember his name..Galkaan, took hits and dished em..he was quiet, focused..didn't hear him whine even once.
Okay..then there was..oh should I name him or not? Maybe not here...but this other rdm..who..and I'm not kidding..3 hours into this thing (finding pt members, getting food, getting to the BC) says...I'm tired and I have to work tomorrow - I'm going to quit...I was like...WHAT?? Nvm his gimped gear...nvm his apparant lack of ability to refresh anyone but himself...NVM his tendency to run off half-ready and get aggro...We convinced him twice that we were close (cuz we were) and that we'd all throttle him if he left. Okay..soooooo...I was preparing to flame him all over Vana'diel and back..but I'll grant him this - he stayed.
So we beat the SL...I stayed up an extra 15 minutes to head back to Sandy to grab rank 6. And that, is how I enjoyed my personal time with FFXI this weekend!
