Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread (the 2nd)

Now I can understand some of the hate, havin' beatin' the game.

The ending is...
Spoiler:
C R A P.

I mean here is a game where early and mid-level CSs/dialogs go on for days and then when you get to the end it's like
Spoiler:
They live, they crystallize (pissed me right off), the end

It's not like it leaves any questions, but hell, with how much of a dredge it is to get through chapters 11 through 13 (not hard just slow thanks to them throwin' every 3-4 min. fight in the game at you back to back to...) I felt a little robbed at how the CSs/dialogs slowed down. Definitely glad it's over though, any longer of a game and I would have lost it, hell, I fell asleep at two save points during my final push on chapters 11 and 12. Looks like all of this post game stuff is goin' to be a lot more enjoyable than the story though. I really enjoy not being confined to a story anymore but I'm definitely down for a ton more of the gameplay. All in all this one takes the cake for me, definitely my favorite of them all to play despite all the chuckles the cliche dialogs gave me throughout the story.

@Reya: Holy crap 30 hours >.>; are you levelling up or something? I actually sped through there once I reached it and played around for a while (maybe 2 hours). Do some of the missions there if you haven't already, they can be pretty fun.

4 and a half hours of leveling already... knocking out missions... I want to get Fang Haste :( However, I am maxing out everyone else to level 4 in their 3 crystal thingies

I wouldn't spend to much time on that. I would strongly advise you just finish the story before you worry about grinding to max out the CP trees. Reason being, one of the missions (55) gives a reward that doubles CP gains. Unless you spend a ridiculous amount of time grinding, you wont be able to do 55 for a while. If you grind enough to use the Death trick, because you'd die from boredom grinding to get a "legit" strat kill, you've pretty much rendered the CP from the story, which you have to get so might as well maximize it as it can come, reasonably pitiful as to what it could have done for your lvl up speed.

pfft I did every mission up to like 57 5 starred before I went to chapter 12 :D sure it was some grinding but mostly the right equipment/job combination :)

I didn't say it wasn't possible, just that it isn't the best route to get your money's worth in CP. Coming back to those later saves a lot of time and gives you the max benefits of the CP related to the story.

I'd recommend doing mission 55 with the death trick as early as possible. Having the growth egg as you go through the story helps you max out so much faster, and saves you so much grinding at the end. Well saves you grinding if you aren't going for platinum anyways. If you're doing platinum, its very unlikely you wont cap your CP through whatever method before you have the money you need.

I disagree, to get to the achievement for the 1 of every loot or even having the best gear you can have, you'll long since cap your CP before you even get close to being done with gil ><

Yeah, because I didn't say that in my post or anything.

ya I read retardedly >< my bad

For gil, I'll give a tip. Running back and forth in Eden is better then killing the adamantoise's. Between perfume, credit chips, incentive chips and that catalyst that also drops, it's much more worth it.

I still have to go back and 5 star a bunch of missions but I feel it'll be a bitch to do.

That's what I was doing :) I made a TON MORE money that way than straight Adamantoise killing.

I'm glad you guys found something that works for you. Personally I don't care enough to go get the last two achievements that I need for 100%. Gonna be a long time before I pick up ff13 with the intent of finishing off those two.

It can't be that bad with un-upgraded equipment and a Gold Watch, can it? I'm about half way through with them and so far I've only gotten less than five stars on 6-7 of them. My plan is to finish them all once, regardless of grade then with the Growth Egg and Watch do the ones I missed full stars on AND THEN start farming for upgrades, which I have no idea where to even begin.

Farming for upgrades is a bitch. The traps is honestly not the issue. The issue is farming gil to buy the catalyst (that can only be bought) for 800,000 gil which you need about 6 of iirc to upgrade a bunch of rings to the final level.

I think my treasure hunter trophy will be the last trophy to get. I'm going to get all trophies except it, then sell everything I have to gain gil to buy the catalysts and hope to god it's enough.

Un-upgraded equipment, does that mean both weapons and accessories? Maybe that's why it was always 0/5 stars when I finish the mark in 10 seconds. I was using basic weapons but upgraded rings.

I think those are droped by the shalong guis >.>

Oh yeah, you should never ever buy the 5 dark matters you need to upgrade things. The money for buying those is such a waste x.x Just kill shaolongs.

Yeah, the mission takes into consideration your weapon and accessories grade when you start it.

As for the farming, I'm fine with it "being a bitch". Honestly, it's not that it's a bitch to do things like that, it's not like the game is hard at all, but more so that it's a huge time sink. I'll probably finish up the missions, start farming and then start Red Dead and Resonance of Fate so as to not burn myself out on it and let it come through time. I kind of like that time consuming farming for some reason, I know it's a pathetic excuse to excuse developer laziness, but the longevity of it, despite it being done wrong, is very welcomed.

Well my "official" strategy guide says they can only be bought. Damn them!

Good news to hear.
