Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread?

Just started this last night. Got to chapter 3 where you can finally start leveling up and playing with styles. So far, I like Lightning, Snow, and Sazh (i think he's pretty funny personally). For some reason, I feel like backhanding Hope, at least for now. Also, with this great engine, why can't the characters show more emotion? I had no idea Hope was seething with a deep hatred until I read it lol.

Overall I'm loving it though!

A lot of people hate hope :( He's one of my favorite characters, and he's a powerhouse xD

Thats because hope doesnt get better till later in the game. Hes a whiny bitch from the start. Tidus doesn't even compare to him in that.

Well, true :P

He do the same damage with magic attacks as my Lightning does with a fully upgraded sword (not ultimate), and he don't have an upgraded weapon xD His -ga's rape shit a new asshole.

And a lot of people were pretty sure the downward fail of FF was gonna continue :P some never liked the idea of FF to be online so they went "FFX and beyond has sucked, so it's gonna be shit." After the bad FFXII crap I figured it'd be meh too.

I thought of FFXII like my nicotine gum since that was around the time I had quit FFXI lol. I didn't like how they rehashed Vanh and just gave em a different name in this game.. the voice, the model, Vanh and Hope could be the same character if I didn't know any better (except Vanh didn't whine so much).

Sorry, Vaan =/= Hope.
He comes into his own, especially later on.
What, losing your mother and becoming what you think you hate, yeah I'd bitch about that too.
Yes, resembles Vaan, but what FF characters haven't resembled others? Plus Hope is younger, and there are still differences between the 2 models.
Different voice actor too.

Plus Vaan's abs burned my eyessss.

Hope was a little bitch at the start and annoyed me. But later on he turns into Mr. Moral support. Which is still kinda annoying tbh, but what uzor said, he is -the- best mage hands down. And lightning has a stick up her ass but then becomes a character I liked later on. At first I said I'd never have her on my team, but now I use snow/light/hope.

-.- three time in a row I got insta deathed on the final boss.... I'm now in the process of going to the save right before hand to buy as many anti death items as I can

Yeah I hear Hope becomes a powerhouse and for power gamers, he's pretty much in everyone's party. I don't blame him for being upset of course, he just witnessed something terrible. Still annoys me though, for now at least lol.

I usually get where these characters come from and sometimes they turn out to be some of my favourites, like Vivi in IX or Squall in VIII.

Critics will call these characters emo, but they're justified and usually well put together in dialogue. Vivi had to deal with his inevitable death while Squall was a social outcast trying to deal.

Hope was trained to hate L'cie and lost his mother in the purge with no remorse from Snow (even though it's really not his fault). There's probably more of a shock factor then rage factor within Hope in the beginning of that game.

Trying to figure out how much longer I should stay in Gran Pulse. Done several missions, can teleport around some, and got the collector catalog. Finally took down a few King Behemoths, which felt good considering the massacre that was my first encounter with one lol. But the XP was not worth the time involved.

I think I've found the Incentive chip farming point in chapter nine, so no doubt I'll be grinding for cash there ;)

You have to pre-emp them for it to be worth it. The one fighting the giant wolf near the North East of that area is always a pre-emp fight. Its near where your story marker is. That fight is the best place to cp farm for quite a while since it gives 6.6k and its always a pre-emp versus the behe and wolf. I've figured out how to get it down to a 35 second fight now, though ive heard of people being able to do it in as little as 10 seconds. If you're just getting there it'll probably take you around a minute but its still worth farming.

Also you should probably continue on with the story once you're up to mission 17 done and are happy with your cp.

I found a pretty good spot in the next area.

Towards the dead end where that boss monster is at. Just keep pre-empting the mobs and the CP is pretty good.

Set Lightning to Rav, pre emp, thundara and stagger every mob, and the Hope comes in with the aga over the top. Fights are very very fast.

5 robots 3850 CP
3 bombs & two robots 5110 CP
3 bombs 3570 CP
2 bombs 2380 CP

That's one way and each group is close together, so back and forth is pretty fast, and they respawn fast.

Even if you don't pre-emp them the fights are fast, and they drop some good components too.

I still haven't done anything to advance the story since getting to Pulse, haven't even gone to my next destination off the Steppe, just been going between the Massif and the Steppe.

Did the first 5 hunts, and been CP farming off pre-emptive Behemoth Kings(doesn't even last 30 seconds), trying to max the main 3 roles for everyone, then back to finishing up the hunts that I can do at this time.
Also 5 starring the ones I didn't 5 star the first time for the trophy in the future.

If anyone is 5 starring missions, and don't feel like going back to each Cie'th Stone to find your rank, hit the map button, then hit it again and select the mark you are wondering about, it'll show your rank (only highest one is recorded)

I have an issue with RPG's in general. I want to go elite in this game, but if I finish the boss and the story, I'm done. It's been like that for every FF for me since 10.

My cousin actually finished 10 before me and I was closer to the end. I saw the ending and then didn't have the urge to play anymore.

I'll make the effort this time, hopefully will want to go back and fight the harder bosses.
I have this problem too. but when i walk away for a bit i feel the urge to play a little bit more. It may be the trophies that i like to collect but, never the less, when i start i feel like continuing. There is a certain appeal with this game that 12, while still a fun game, lacked. I love games with replay value, and this one has replay value.

Thing is the end of the game isn't the hardest fight, or biggest "boss". That's why I keep playing afterwords. The hardest nm in ff10 and 12 are ridiculously hard, and I love that. Hoping this game has that but I've only done like 50 of the missions so far, and still grinding to cap all jobs.

Also found a better grinding spot than the behe/wolf, the ochu in The Archylte Steppe - Aggta's Pasture (need chocobo). You have to be a bit higher to be able to take him on, maybe around 9-10k hp. But the rewards are great, I assume this is the best spot in game. With growth egg (which you should already have at that point) you get 26,600 Crystogen points, and 1-2k gil per fight. Not a ton of gil, but still nice. I can kill em in as low as :45 seconds, so easily 1.2mil + an hour.

Best spot is in Chapter 13, but you can't go back there after you went through it, only way is to start the game over and play through it.
So no post game leveling, but spending an hour or so on Wladislaus in the final area of the Tessarects to get ready for the final crystarium level, 32,000 CP or 64,000 CP with a growth egg.
Can be difficult, but fight will only take 1-2 minutes, probably less depending on your weapon strength.
Debatable which is best.

But for post game, your locale and the Behe/Wolf are 2 of the best.

So no post game leveling.

You make it sound like you cant farm at all after the game. The behe trick isnt too bad because by that point you can do the fight in 10 seconds or so. Ive also heard something about a adamantoise death trick that can get you like 80k with the growth egg.

I do the adaman trick, but problem with that is there is like 3 of them total in gran pulse. Lots of CP but way too much down time to be a good grind method. How ever you need to kill them for the upgrade item.
