I think the story was crap and the characters were annoying and music was meh. But the gameplay was superb.

And I don't mind full blown mario or KH platforming in a FF, don't see HOW it'd be bad :\

It'd be bad because thats NOT what Final fantasy is. That is Mario and Kingdom Hearts. Different games have different gameplay so that you can pick and choose the kind you like. I love Kingdom hearts gameplay, at the same time I don't enjoy Mario. So if i feel like playing those I'll play KH. I don't want it in FF, atleast not the main numbered ones. From those I expect the turn based fighting system I've grown up with.

At the same time, for people who do want the KH-esque FF, they're making Versus XIII. So be happy about that.
 
I dunno, I don't see the big deal of adding some good platforming to it. Not saying that would be the focus but a little here and there to add variety to the gameplay.
 
That's what they tried to do in FFX-2.
 
In X-2 it wasn't platforming, it was the same prospect as having to click X to open a door in any other RPG. You hit X to jump up/down when you're at the "trigger point"
And it was good in that, I wouldn't mind something like that in XIII, just not full blown platforming like Mario or R&C. That needs to stay in KH or FF Versus XIII.
 
I didn't say X-2 was platforming, but they did try to vary up area exploration by having you jump at certain points.
Not that it mattered. Some kind of natural or artificial bridge would've been just as good.
 
Yeah, though I wouldn't mind if XIII had something like X-2.
 
So do we know if Serah is going to be a playable character or not? I feel like she isn't since we haven't heard about her summon, yet shes listed as one of the main characters on the official site.
 
I don't think so, the main 6 have been revealed supposedly.
In one of the trailers, TGS one I think it shows a scene where she is an l'Cie who failed to complete her focus and becomes a Cie Corpse, that or she completed her focus and becomes crystallized.
I think she's just on the site because she's an important character (Snow's fiancee and Lightning's sister) and may be a guest character at some point in the game, but we won't see her as a permanent member probably.
We still have yet to learn Vanille's summon though, and she is a playable character.

I thought Vanille's summon was gonna be carbuncle? It was shown with her same time Shiva was shown with Snow.

No. And don't expect there to be anything out on it until after FFXIII has been released. They wouldn't wanna market both games at the same time and make people have to choose between one or the other. I'm sure info for the game will start hitting late next spring or summer.


Also Vanille and Fang both have the first same name <.< Oerba. Whats up with that :<
 
They're both from the Oerba tribe/clan, or something like that effect, just that title in their names to signify that.
And nah, Carbuncle was just a disc she was holding onto, but not as her eidolon. People think he's one of the Fal'Cie of Cocoon, along with Siren, Ifrit, possibly Kujata.
In one of the trailers Vanille is seen saying she wants a Carbuncle plushie that an NPC has, so it's probably the Fal'Cie of Festivals on Cocoon.

This scan in Japanese says that these 3 Fal'Cie are not eidolons you get for your characters but have a part in the story.

Perhaps they're sisters/cousins/in-laws?
 
I don't think they're sisters. They look nothing alike.

But I guess Tiael answered it, they're from the same tribe or something.
 
They're both I'Cie, so quite possible they're from the same tribe.

Anyway, who's importing?
 
i've never been in such dire need of a game that I'd want to play it in japanese rather than wait 3 months to play it in english
 
Yeah, I'll wait til March 9th so I can actually understand and enjoy the game to the fullest.

The only things I consider importing are soundtracks because they usually don't release here, and I did import FFXIII's OST.
That doesn't release til January 27th however, and I'll get mine by late January/early February.
 
I would import if it had english subs. But I don't think it does :<
 
Don't think so, but the inevitable international version that only Japan gets will ><
