Final Fantasy goes online... again

I'm sure most of us have heard that SE was working on anew MMO for the PS3, Xbox360, and Vista. However we were told it wasn't gonna be another Final Fantasy.... well today i found this:

Not satisfied with Final Fantasy 11's success, Square's dipping Final Fantasy into the online sauce again!

Apparently, this new Final Fantasy online will (at first) be only for PS3 and X360, and isn't related to FF11. Rather than a brand new world though, the team has decided to set the game in an already established world from a previous Final Fantasy...

The possibilities are endless.

Most likely though, is that this will be a new entrant into the Ivalice Alliance, as I can't see Nomura directing a new online entrant into the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 world (see previous article). No word on when it will see release, or members of the team, or even if the PS3 and 360 version will interact, but we'll keep you updated.

Yeah, we've heard this and the FF7-PS3 rumours how many times?

Until it comes from SE themselves, the rumours can continue to GTFO.

If they do make another FF MMO it will not be for awhile I am sure of this. Aside from that, FFXI is far from being complete. Honestly though, I don't see myself playing another MMO after this one though.

It's the long awaited Tetra Master expansion pack! Now you have a movable character you can pimp out with gear from FFXI, all taking an amazing 93% the effort they originally would be needed to get! And now you can use your crappy, useless cards to buy better, slightly less useless ones! Also, there are new, super-powerful card battling bosses to take on, adding a whole new depth of challenge! Can you beat the Tonberry Kinq of Games or the fearsome Hydra and his triple-play strategies?! This is gonna be a whole new game brought to the ballpark, kids!








God I hope not.


An FFT MMO would be sortof neat, don't see how they could otherwise base it off of an already-existing FF game (unless they mean to steal one of the game's themes and loosely reference characters in the storyline...anything beyond that and they'd be potentially ruining the original game entirely)

heh I havent even played FF7 why care? besides like all mmo's when they come out are crappy to start with and become better with updates and improvements

They'd more likely than not simply base it in the setting of a previous FF game, not directly interacting with the storyline or any such business. There's an awful lot of room in the average game setting for side stories, after all. You could do FFX before Tidus shows up, FFTactics pretty much anytime really, FFVII post-Sephiroth, etc etc.
