Final Fantasy IV Advance Review

This game is wayyyyyyyyyyyy to easy lol .. man.. I beat that MIst dragon the same way he did lol. Plus a lot of the fiends as well. Made my Palom learn all the agas and quake lol killed Cagnazzo in two shots.

Leveled up to 40 easily right after I got Cecil as PLD.. lmao at the same spot. Was trying to get a Lilith Rod.. piece of crap .. I just gave up lol. Every new pt member that joined was 40+ then on lol... and 1 hr later I'm on the moon lol maybe 2 lol.

Lags a lot too when you have a fulll pt .. one time I casted Cure on myself and it didn't go through... wth lol maybe I was going to fast.. even then I can't scroll fast .. like I used to ..because they changed that.

OH well still a good game just 1000x easier than the snes version lol would've been better on the DS. With a multiplayer battle function OH yeah lol

Just wondering, do you laugh at the end of everything you say in real life?

It's like he replaces the period with lol.

Back on track, I've finally past the point I got stuck at on the psx version and I'm having alot of fun with it, I am starting to see some little "lag issues" but there no biggie, and should no reason stop a newbie to the game from getting it.

I have it, and not having played the snes game I think thats its a really fun experience. I'm a fan of old school RPG's but not the FF's. I did like shining force, Dragon Quests, Lunars, and Star Ocean's. I think that FFIV is really good port into the advance, and I really dont see a problem with it. Although I havent played the older one, I still think thats its a good story for what it has now and its generally a fun game to play if you want to kill time on the bus ride to school ^^

Gotta love the story, its really cool when you think of ff11 also since they took from these early games for the job classes.

I was never into RPG's up until FFVII (although my first was Mario RPG). I got this one a few days ago, and I must say that I am highly entertained by it. Story is pretty good, gameplay is... Final Fantasy. I like it.

Other than this, the only other older Final Fantasy I've gotten into a lot was V. I think I was near the end of the game on PS1, but I couldn't beat a boss at one point, so I gave up. I do plan on getting V and VI for GBA when they come out (I already have Dawn of Souls, but I'm waiting to beat IV to start up that one).

After 4 your gonna get bored with 1 real fast >.< and...well I already gave my opinion on 2. It's funny how many times the characters get switched out in this game.

I figured I'd beat it before I posted to this thread.

The reviewer is full of shit.

It is almost exactly the same. Here are the differences I have seen.

Item inclussions like Red Fang, Arctic Wind, etc.
Comlpetely retranslated. Nicely done too.
Everyone has a no-cost ability now. Most of em suck. (yangs is glitched. If you hit Behemoth with his "Store" Attack, Behemoth will NOT counter with any attack)
The random encounters are kinda fucked up. the same group of mobs show up 75% of the time, and it's hard to find any rare creatures. Green Dragon, Pink, Red Dragon x3
LOTS of items, monsters, and Summons got renamed.
Samurai Gear -> Genji Gear
Crystal Sword -> Ragnarok
Drain Spear -> Blood Spear
Mute Knife -> Mage Masher
Spoon -> Knife
Indra -> Ramuh
Meteo -> Meteor
Millon -> Scarmiglion

There is now endgame gear for Yang, Cid, palom, porum, and Edward. And obviously, these characters are all playable after you beat the giant of Babel
The dungeaon where this is obtained is a joke at lvl 50ish, if you want a challenge from that, do it around lvl 40. It's all pretty much straight forward, with the hardest fight being somewhat equal to the fighting Asura. More strategy based then difficult.

I didn't attempt Zeromus till lvl 62ish, when I beat him with Palum porum yang Edge and Cecil. It was rather easy, but I was able to steal Dark matter (after 30minutes of trying).

All in all, this was a wonderful port. And yes, I played the origanal many many times (maybe 50?) The only thing that made this easier was the added attack all monsters ability Cecil got as a Drk. It made the game a breeze up until you became a pld, then the difficulty was somewhat comprable to the origanal american version.

I particularly enjoyed the name Changes of equipment and Mobs. It added a new aspect to the game, and made it comparable to other Final Fantasy games that came after this one.

I haven't even gone inside the lunar ruins yet, but I'm looking foward to it. Hopefully it' more along the lines of a 65-70+ area.

Heh those no mp cost abillities were in the psx version, basically the hardtype of FFIV, the snes version was the easytype. So the GBA version is rather easy? They downgraded the hardtype(which was what the GBA version was supposed to be)? Bleh I'll just stick with the psx version then if they easyfied the gba.

Actually though Tiael, a little known fact is that the SNES Final Fantasy II was NOT "easytype". It was a beta version of the original type that was somewhat easier because it wasn't completely finished. The "easytype" game was actually even easier than II! For example, the anchient sword, found in the baron waterway, was changed to the coral sword which had a lightning elemental to it, as well as +5 attack, which all happens to be really handy on an upcoming boss...see what I mean? Also, *SPOILERS* the easytype version had a different sprite for when you fought Zeromus, which happens to be the Zeromus you fight at the bottom of the Lunar Dungeon, Zeromus EG. EG = Easy Game. *END SPOILERS*

*spoilers in this post*

welll i got my FF4 advance for christmas and i have to say i love it.yeah its tru its easier than the ps1 version but at least you can go through it and enjoy it comfortably without being pissed all the time because of the hard difficulty.the cave of trials they added was kind of weak and worthless seing all the weapons you get in the lunar ruins are stronger but the lunar ruins adds a quite of bit of challenge to the game and more stuff to do.the lunar ruins is freaking huge.but it has some cool ass weapons you can get for everyone (abels lance for example).also shops that sale really great end game gear (mainly for cid,edward,
yang, etc..).right now all my char are 70+ with uber gear and im almost finished
with the lunar ruins.all together its been a great game i highly recomend this game if you liked FF2 on snes.also the details on the graphics is a little better.not plain like on the snes/ps1.the only lagging ive noticed is when flying
around in the airships.if i was to score the game i would give it a 9 out of 10 ^^

lol that's why I'm glad that I put the time and effirt into finding the origionals in the internet. I now own all the FF games in sequence up till XII. Obviously.

Ah well still easier than the psx version(GBA that is) so I'll just save my money, sides the psx version isn't that bad, I do a system save if I'm not quitting, and only save to the memory card if I'm shutting down the system. System save is a helluva lot quicker, plus I love the difficulty of the psx version :P

If by renamed you mean reverted to their proper names, yes.

Scarmiglion was "Milon"'s original name.

Heh but seriously, they didn't need to change the names after 15 years.

I'm almost done with the lunar dungeon now, characters are lvl 70ish.

The stuff in the lunar ruins is hard. Easy type hard type, whatever, that shit is hard and it's not available on any other version of the game.

If you like FFIV, get this game. It is well worth your time.

I like FFIV, but I'm not willing to play thru it again for the 10th+ time. Sides don't even have a GBA/DS, if FFIV was better I'd buy 1 for it, but at this time I'm not planning on it.

Cid's trial is awesome!
