Its aggrivating as hell to have a chat window that can't be relocated or resized. Not to mention lost chat during zoning...pathetic.

Your auction house system sucks.
You can't tell me that at one point or another, each and every one of you has wished you could put more than just 7 items up on the AH at a time.

No comment needed really, anyone who's hit 75 knows that FFXI turns into more of a job than a game.

Would be nice to have an alternative means of gaining exp other than mind-numbing parties for hours on end.

Not all the quests are down-right horrible, but the quest descriptions most deffinately are. What the hell am I supposed to understand with a discription like "A chocobo has run away from the stables in Upper Jeuno, and Brutus wants you to help bring it back."
And we all know that every single damned quest description in this game is equally non-informative.
And heaven forbid if you ASK someone what to do or where to go, because even though this game is meant for things to be done in groups, people seem to act as though helping someone out / answering a question or any other possitive interaction is one of the seven deadly sins, so instead people are insulted and links are thrown around like paper airplanes in a grade-school classroom.

Your job versatility sucks.
Do whats popular or dont get a party, pretty lame in an MMO where solo exp is next to impossible.

My beef isnt so much with the zones themselves as it is with zoning. After playing a game in which the entire world is one huge open map, zoning everyd damned time you wanna get somewhere is pretty F'n annoying. I mean honestly, they can't even make city travel easy, they gotta break each city up into 4 mini-zones, lame.

don't really have a comment for this one. SE was doomed from the start really, the way they created NMs / item drops and all that was obviously prone to easy monopolization which sprouted more RMT than you could ever know what to do with. I played WoW for a year on three different servers and NEVER saw anything remotely similar to the RMT problems FFXI has.

I'm trying to avoid making a comparison to WoW in each response, but this one can't be helped.
First week on WoW, they did this event where they put these tables out in each of the main cities, tables which you could walk up to and basically pick up infinite amounts of alcohol. So i get my character all for shit-faced, run around the city dancing naked, screen blurry as all hell, end up falling in the river, can't get my character to swim straight 'cause i'm so drunk off my ass and i ended up drowning. Now i gotta tell ya, i had more fun in one hour of that event, than i have in all the events put on by SE combine.

this kinda goes hand-in-hand with the economy sucking so much ass.

Your unbalanced jobs suck. Bad.
At least SE is making an effort. Its far too little, and far too late, but at least they're making an effort. Only took them what? 2 years to realize how the introduction of NIN and utsusemi had all but killed PLD exp, and how long was DRG around before their Call Wyvern was changed from a 2hr to a standard JA?

the introduction of the choco-whistle is kind of nice. obviously it also is FAR too late, but at least its a step in the right direction.

hmmm, PvP thats only available to certain job levels, in certain zones, at a certain time. can you be any more restricting / pathetic? Not to mention the fact the out of 3 opposing nations, PvP can only be performed by 2 of them, with members of the 3rd having to wait and cross their fingers that they can hop into on open spot? (or however the hell it works, lame, just lame.)

A huge chunk of people that play you suck.
There are a select few who are nice / outgoing / helpful, etc. Enough that it almost makes it worthwhile to play. But the population of the server as a whole comes off as anal, selfish and just plain rude.
EDIT:
funny ass jpg by the way.
