Final Fantasy Tactics A2 thread

I'm kinda scared to go to that link, I'm really really diggin this storyline so I'm trying not to touch gamefaqs. Looks like you answered my question as in I need to progress the storyline to get the last 2 races.

By the way, did anyone start on Hard mode? I'm finding normal to be a bit too easy. I shouldn't be able to down the kings (rank 66 at this point) in 3-4 rounds I would think.

I'll just put the list here then.
You'll probably need a good clan title to get some of the higher jobs.
Spoiler:

months, areas, races, classes:

Hume
Blackfrost, Skyfrost
Targ Forest - Soldier, Thief, White Mage, Black Mage, Archer
Galerria Deep - Paladin, Fighter, Blue Mage, Hunter
Sant D'alsa Bluff - Parivir, Ninja, Illusionist, Seer

Bangaa

Baptiste Hills - Warrior, White Monk, Dragoon, Gladiator, Bishop
Aisenfield - Defender, Master Monk, Templar, Cannoneer, Trickster

Nu-Mou
Rosefire, Coppersun
Graszton - White Mage, Black Mage, Beastmaster
Moorabelle - Time Mage, Arcanist, Illusionist, Sage
Nazan Mines - Alchemist, Scholar

Moogle

Viera
Ashleaf, Mistleaf
Camoa - Fencer, Archer, White Mage, Green Mage, Red Mage
Rupie Mountains - Elementalist, Spellblade, Summoner, Assassin, Sniper

Gria
Emberleaf, Plumfrost
Fluorgis - Hunter, Raptor
Zedlei Forest - Ravager, Geomancer

Seeq
Emberleaf, Plumfrost
Aldanna Range - Berserker, Ranger
Tramdine Fens - Lanista, Viking

You can get Seeqs before you head to the second continent. However, because the only recruitable Gria are the unlockable jobs, you'll have to go to the second continent before you can recruit one.

Warning for all the people still playing this. Unless you're a person who saves super super often DO NOT FAIL A STORYLINE MISSION!

Apparently, you can fail any other mission in the game and just redo it, but if you fail a storyline mission, it's game over. Found out the hard way and not sure when I saved last >.<

So I gave in and ordered this on Amazon, just waiting for it to get here now. I've never played the first one though, does FFTA2's story stand on it's own or do I need to play FFTA to understand it? I plan on picking FFTA up sometime, just not anytime soon.
Oh and about the ability "Libra" you can get from having FFTA in the DS while playing FFTA2, you can get it later in the game without FFTA right?

Stands on its own, I don't wanna ruin anything but it does kinda link up with a couple of other characters later on, which is humorous, but you don't need to know them to get what's going on. Kinda like the original tactics had Cloud in it at some point.

About the Libra thing.. YOU WILL NEVER USE IT. lol all it does is show traps on the field, which half the time aren't even there. So, don't waste your time on getting it, but if you really want it, it will activate before you even start the story. Like as soon as you hit New Game it'll say "received Libra." You can take your DS to Gamestop and pop in a copy and then hand it back.

Or you can just wait for the Ranger ability Show Traps.
Which is basically the same thing, and has the added fun of revealing invisible units which the enemy never uses.

Plus you can just get Libra with the Clan Trials, or so I've heard. Now the damned game just needs to get here so I can play it.

the story is very, very simplistic for a while but it does improve along the way.

btw, the game breaks once you get the ultima weapons and MP conserve options. fights that are supposed to take 20 minutes or longer can be finished in less than 5.

I agree that normal was way too easy. After you get the auction house and can easily sleep your way to epic weapons it's a cakewalk. I restarted on hard a few days ago and while a few fights have been a bit more of a hectic pace, it's still pretty easy. As far as I can tell, all that hard does is make enemy attacks do 1.5x the damage they would do on normal. I randomly lost the first komodo sub-mission because the idiot walked onto a trap and then both ranged attackers attacked him in a row before I could do anything, lulz.

I'd have to disagree and say the game breaks once you can Mirror X-Potion.
200 damage, no penalty, no MP usage. Yeah...

They game breaks with cannoneer and illusionist (well mine is a seer with illusions).

I can put just those 2 on the field and beat every battle in no more than 3 rounds, usually 1 or 2.

Cannoneer's turn: Ether Shell
Seer's turn: Illusion with turbo mp unlocked

The end.

Just met Penelo and Vaan :p

Meh, supposed to get here July 14th, that'll leave me just a week to play some of it before FFIV releases lol, guess I could have just went to the store and picked it up, but I didn't want to leave the house. Ah well, I'll either beat it first then play IV or start IV then get back to FFTA2 after.

Got it today 2 days early :) loving it so far, hope to get as far as possible or maybe even have it beat before FFIV DS.

You'll beat it if you're not like me and get sucked into side missions for JP. I swear I'll master 3 different jobs before I even touch the next storyline mission most of the time.
