Hi guys,

A friend loaned me a copy of FFVII for PC, but it's pretty ancient and I'm not sure how to make it work with Windows XP. It seems to have loaded successfully (I didn't bother installing directx 5.0), and I can get it to the New Game/Continue screen with the sword on it.

When I select New Game, it sounds an input noise and goes to a black screen, but there it stays. I've waited a minute or so, but my comp should definitely run it faster (it runs FFXI with the best graphics turned on).

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

There really shouldn't be a problem with you playing FFVII on the PC with WXP. I actually own a copy and it runs, really, well. I'm not sure why you are experiencing this slow down, though the only assumption I foresee, is a resource sharing problem. Maybe you have other applications allocating RAM, or other needed neccessities elsewhere. Try defragmenting your computer? How about cleaning it up a bit? They may not be sure fire, speed enhancing quick fixes, but they may relieve some resources for the game. I did this and it worked great.

hey go to http://www.eyesonff.com and go under ffvii.. there should be a patch that u can dl there.. see if that works.. i dont have the game for pc myself.. but it might help

Hmm...Well, I have FFVII for PC as well, but I ran it on Me. No problems, so I can't really offer any help. But if you do get it running, I highly suggest a gamepad if you don't already have one.

Oi...sorry about the dp, accidentally hit the button twice. Any way to delete?

Thanks, Moebius; I'm checking that out now; the patch seems to have worked well.
