Haha, finally these mufuggas try to help the fuckin game rather than create more chaos...

Props to you S-E, for finally thinking about players. Times change with the players, and it's up to the provider's of the game to keep up and adapt. This is great, hopfully seeing more great content from S-E. Now all we have to do is wait for the whiners so we can point and laugh at them.

- The notorious monsters listed below will slowly grow in strength after a certain amount of time has passed since being claimed:
King Arthro / Simurgh / Roc / Serket / Capricious Cassie /Lord of Onzozo / Behemoth / King Behemoth / Adamantoise / Aspidochelone / Fafnir / Nidhogg
*This time period will vary for each notorious monster.

ALL RIGHT!...... now heres the question........ how hard do they get? bet they are a fair amount harder after ya have them awhile

This is an awsome update, but I'm curious as to how long the mob must be up before it can be claimed. But I think it's a good idea compared to the current system, but I hope it's not too long. Maybe a second and a half would be plenty?

/blockaid sounds nice for combating gilsellers and other cheap tactic users.

And anti stalling measures sounds good, but again I'm curious how much.

well with the mobs having to be up for a short time, does and doesnt help. now all the claim botters have to do is set a delay in their programs. simple as that, they will have know exactly how long it takes though. sure its not hard to figure out.
atleast we have more of a chance to get claims though. gunna have to go in with a claim order with a group of people it seems.

To me it sounded like trying to provoke a target that's not there yet will bump the timer for provoke up a few seconds. Essentially that would keep anyone from attempting to pre-provoke the nm until they could see it.

Thus, it would be all about who had the best mix of lag-lacking and reflexes.

Not sure though. It's really not clear.

It completely helps. The only advantage people were having with claiming NM's was something that would intercept incoming packets, and have access to the pop before anyone else, as well as it's exact location. This will completely decimate that, as when they come into fair claiming game, there will be no way to shortcut it. I think they designed this part of the update with those programs in mind. Why else would they do it?

The "monsters increasing in strength" bit is also a blow against stalling. If you claim a mob and stall for an hour or so, it'll be a heck of a lot harder to kill when you're done stalling, and it would be easier for a full party wipe after stalling. Which can be either very good or very bad, depending on if you stall or not.

The "can't claim monsters as soon as they appear" bit is also rather nice, since we won't see monsters spawning claimed any more. Now, we just need to find out how long that delay is, and if it's random. I don't think that walking up to it and meleeing will be the solution; it'll probably be about 2-3 seconds after it pops, just enough so that you don't have to spam your /targetnpc and /ja Provoke <t> macros constantly for 3 hours...

Edit: Holy crap, I read the topic and it's got two posts, I make a post and suddenly I'm on page 3...

Anyway, I'm thinking it might be good if there's no visual clues to when you can claim a mob, and it's somewhat random (i.e. randomly anywhere between 1 and 3 seconds, for example). That way you can't just use some sort of program that'll tell you when you can claim the mob, and if that information is kept server-side, you can't packet sniff it either (hence the "no visual clues" bit). So once it pops, just try your macro; if it works, yay, if not, hope someone else in your group gets it...

couple reasons. jps see pops faster, botters have near instant claim. *shrug* like i said it helps, and makes it ALOT harder on botters. :)

Just a guess, but maybe monsters will pop a different colour than usual (kind of like that one update where mobs would pop "claimed" colour, only on purpose this time ) If you try to do anything at all to them before they turn to "unclaimed" colour, you lose the timer of that effect, but once it goes "unclaimed" everyone can voke to their heart's content? I dunno, just a wild guess.

This makes me actually wanna try HNMs and try to get a Dalmatica finally... =\

Only big problem I see, is with the HNM that gradually get stronger...do they lose the bonus strength if the party wipes or something, or does it continually get stronger and stronger, despite what happens? If so, Faf/Aspi may be hell, with the MPK problems and such...

this thing can go both way's really... one it pretty much mean u gonna have to kill this things perfectly or they become stronger and 2 on claim this could be pretty gay since the only issue is the diff in speed between us and the japanese what gonna make it easier since it will be up all japanese will target it and then since they faster in getting there info to the server will claim it. well that what i think.

Well, actually...Thanks to the /blockaid command, MPK on those will be hard now. It's gonna be impossible to induce a Spike Flail if people fighting all put /blockaid on. ^^

Time to go get me a Koenig Cuirass.

{All right!}

also now that i think about it fafnir/nidhogg gonna rape the camper if we all stand down at pit like before. hmm gonna change the way this nm are camp also who ever get aggro will have the best chance to claim it. i see some other update comming to improve on this.

Time to get me an hnmls, hrotti, aegishjalmr, and kaiser cuirass >.>
