I just checked the UK age rating for FFXII and it has been given a 16+ restriction (Highest Final Fantasy age restriction to date in the UK, or possibly anywhere else for that matter lol).

This was where I found the out what the age restriction was for FFXII:

Anyone wanna discuss this? Feel free to post positive or negative posts about this.

PEGI age ratings go like this:

3+ 7+ 12+ 16+ 18+ with additional warnings of Violence, Bad Language, Fear, Sexual Content, Drugs and Discrimination.

The reason why FFXII was given such a high rating? I haven't played this yet, but from the video reviews I have seen, It has many references to Politics and War etc, so that may have been a strong reason for the age rating being that high.

All I can say is thank god i'll be 18 around 18 days before it is released lol.

Apparently it has "partial nudity"

The viera I guess? ;x

I'm yet to find a games shop that actually asks for ID when buying games, I bought the original GTA when it came out, I must of been about 11.

When I was 14, a store asked for ID when I was buying Final Fantasy Anthology which was rated 11+ (Which was under the old ELSPA rating system). I didn't have ID so I had to ask my parents to confirm I was actually 14 @.@ It was a Woolworths store btw lol

You must look little.

When I get asked my age I panic, I got IDd for booze the other day, they asked if I was eighteen, I stared and was all "Yes. I am eighteen," they asked to see my ID, then asked why I said I was eighteen when I am twenty. I paniced, we all laughed.

Some places they do though it is rare. I had to buy a game for my brother once because he didn't meet the age requirement for that game when they asked him. Its been a long time ago though, I don't even remember what game it was. Other than that I've never seen places ask for ID when buying a game.

In my experience, "standard" (IE, not a game-specific store) ask for ID far more than, say, Gamestop. Which sucks. The harder it is for kids to buy Mature-rated games, the less heat we gamers get.

I'm 20 and people think I'm 16 or 17. It's blasted annoying.

Why? I've Never understood that.

As a cashier, I'm tasked to sell alcohol and check IDs, and some people get really irritated even when they have valid ID. Just fucking show it! It's not like I'm telling people to drop 'em so I can use a ruler on their dick, but people act like it is.

I'd open with that, then suggest they could also show you their ID.

Yep I feel you there. And it'll keep going too. I had that same problem when I was 20. I'm 23 now and I still get people saying im 18 or 19.

About two years ago I bought Halo II and Elder Scrolls 3 for Xbox both M (I'm pretty sure) I was 15 at the time, and they didn't card me. I was a small kid too without a parent around.

Maybe some don't care.

Or

Maybe some don't deem the game what the ESRB rated it and just go against it.
