I couldn't find a thread, sooo ya. Either I fail at searching or there wasn't one (thought there was though).

Regardless, I've been hearing nothing but good about it. Did anyone pick it up? How good is it?

It actually holds up fairly well. I'm a bit overconcerned with minmaxing the new Crystarium system, but being a few points off in one category or another is something I can live with.

Wrapped up 005AF Bresha last night. Let's see how far I can get tonight.

I have heard they simplified the crystarium system or something.

I guess I'll have to pick this game up when I have free time to play it it seems fun.

Not simplified, in XIII it was simplified in that there was no choices, XIII-2 while it may combine all the roles into the same crystarium, you can level them all to 99, and choose which role to level, what role bonus you get, and you can even play with your stats.
Once you go all the way around the nodes "reset" so you can start around again but you keep the stats and abilities you learned already.

Say there's 197 large nodes on the crystarium, you get a role bonus if you level a role in that large node.
The small nodes do not give the role bonus, COM gives +2 STR role bonus in a large node, RAV gives +2 MAG, SAB gives either +2 STR or +2 MAG depending on even or odd level.
But, you don't need to adjust stats, you can beat the game without doing it and all the post-game things.
I'd say it's more complicated this time around, but still not bad.

Anyways, I'm loving the game, and I love the monster battle aspect.
Got the CE game as I love the OST myself.
I enjoyed XIII, but I'm finding XIII-2 way better over-all.

There's a Lightning and Amodar Coliseum battle coming Tuesday the 7th, if you defeat them in the Coliseum you have a chance to recruit them into your monster party.
Lightning is a RAV and Amodar is a COM.
Omega kicked my ass too, first thing I did when I got out of New Bodhum AF03 was head to the Coliseum and get Wave Cannoned to death, just for shits.

Currently I'm farming some monsters in Sunleth Waterscape AF300 before I take the gate in Bresha Ruins AF 05 to Yaschas Massif, just went to Sunleth to unlock moogle throw and some beasts.
