I highly doubt FFXIV is their new MMO RPG. That title is what some random person gave it, not someone working at Square Enix

It's entirely possible though. They haven't confirmed or denied anything about the series past 13, which is supposedly going to be one of the final in it. It would make sense that by the time developement comes around for FF14 that FFXI would be quite on it's way out for the majority of the player base (ie. server merges and the like) and they'd want to bring back a lot of that money. Now whether or not they want to release the MMO in the FF style, play off one of their other franchises, or create a new one all together, there will probably be another SE MMO to come in the next few years.

No new FF number series MMOs again, ever. Please.
And no one has ever said FF13 will be the last. I really doubt it will be. SE does not make stupid non FFXI related decisions.

Brands work up their names. Once they got a name going, they can sell stuff just because they are of that brand.
A few examples would be Prada, Gucchi (sp?) etc. Even though most of their stuff looks dreadfull, and really not worth the money, they will continue to produce it, just because it makes them money.
Final Fantasy is the same thing. SE can sell pretty much anything just because it contains the name Final Fantasy. And as long as people buy it, they will continue to produce it.
