FTW i learned that when I hit 75 for the first time I thought I was badass, then a bunny pwned my face in The Boyahda Tree. :(

It seems Private Beta for SE employees, friends and family (The "Focus group" perhaps?) has begun, so looks like we're 1 step closer to a Public Beta or a Public Private Beta.
 
Is it just SE employees in Japan, or SE employees in US/EU as well?
 
probably only Japan, I have no idea. SE employees got something like 5 beta keys each to give out to friends/family and themselves.

I feel that we can play this on beta sometime in January and February.
 
God I hope I get into the beta. I created a new email account for that purpose only. They wouldn't allow me to use my real email account to sign up, so off to gmail I went.

Well it isn't for the beta specifically. There was a quote from one of the developers saying to register on the main site: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ for beta information. The registration on the site doesn't accept hotmail or msn addresses. I'm sure the normal mmo related sites will announce when they are accepting beta applications. I just really wanted to register, just in case they give some weight to beta acceptance by join dates, etc.
 
Tis spiffy. Can't wait for the section to branch out during the beta.
 
One thing i hope they keep is how they did armor and weapons in FFXI,

in WoW there were so many different generic weapons and armor pieces at every lvl you could never tell what someone was wearing when you looked at em, all the armor before endgame armor looked generic and plain and you couldn't pick one out from another by lookin at em from the outside.

But ffxi the armor and weapons are made more unique and original, for the most part you could tell what lvl someone is and what they're wearing by looking at them, cause even the lower lvl armors had unique looks to em. you know what Brigandine body armor is when you see it. (was always one of my favorites when lvling up =P )

I always missed that part of ffxi in other MMO's.

Face type

Five face types of Rougadyn are also released. There are variations in beards, scars on faces and hair style. Moreover, you can see something like tattoos on face and some faces got Band-aids. It looks like their shape of noses and lips are slightly different.

* this type has three scars on face. Maybe you can change size, place and shape of scars?
* this type has aband-aid on face. Maybe there’re items that you can put on your face?
* this type got a unique looking hair style and patterns around eyes.


How much can you customize?

According to the info of female Huran’s whole bodies and Rougadyn’s faces, here are some settings that you can change when you do character making. Of course many things are not certain yet, but it seems that detailed character making is possible. Let’s wait for a day when we can play for real in heart beat.

Overture

About ten years ago, “barbarous God” hassuddenly appeared in Eorzen.

That was the Genius summoned by odd-looking people called “barbarous people”.

The barbarous people were threatening citizens, enjoying their power.

On the otherhand, “Military Garlean Empire” was coming on from the Northeast.

The Empire seems to be intending to take over the continent of Aldenard with its overwhelming military force, and Ala Mhigo, a state nation, has fallen by it.

Eorzea is now exposed to two powers, and adventures are getting mysterious power; reliving past events.

And the power is allegedto be able to change the world… who brought this power?

Is it right power? Why was it given to adventurers?

Adventurers have to find the answer…

Hyuran ( Female)

This is the picture of a female Hyuran’s whole body. Their sexy under wears are eye-catching ,but you can also see that there are variations in the colors of eyes, hair and skin. Moreover, there are minute differences in textures of lingerie and colors of eyes.

* Yes it istrivial, but color of eyes do give different impression, so we have to becareful when choosing it.
* Seven types of underwear's are released at this time.


If you look closer, you can see that materials of fabric are also a bit different.

Garlean Empire

They are said to be planning to take over the continent of Aldenard. So, can I take Garlean Emipre as the third party other than humans and “barbarous people”?

Sato: Yes. It is a three-way fight.

But it is regarded as an unlucky direction?

kind of confuses me, as it seems like you can choose one of three "alignments" in the game - State nation, Barbarian and Galean -, or did I read that entirely wrong?

And would that be on top of the "Country People versus Highland people" already revealed? (New Moon/Full Moon in Gridania)

I wouldn't read it like that at all Uzor but it's a petty accurate guess.

I'm pretty sure state nation refers to Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, and Gridania, the three "city-states." Those city states are probably the state nations they refer to and Barbarian and Galean are the NPC parties.

I could be way off.

From the wording it sounds like you can choose to be Barbarian and Galean as well, though.
