Go figure it'd happen shortly after the greatest FPS of all time is released. The next 3-4 weeks are goin' to be brutal.

Sorry to hear. That sucks.

Eh, I don't doubt it. He's right though. The 360's hardware is/was garbage. Considerin' I take extremely good care of everything I own, I'll admit now they have a problem, without doubt from consumer idiocy. All that said, I haven't changed my mind about anything else. I'm sending this one in for repairs and will most likely buy a newer model that has the upgraded motherboard and CPU. Having a backup system will be nice to avoid that month wait. I'm sure they'll send me some refurbished console back so I wont be relyin' on it for much more than a backup unit.

That does suck. My brother's 360 just toasted out too, had an original launch system like me, and we both keep our stuff top notch. Makes me feel sad. Who knows when mine will go... I can't wait for the new model to be released.

Greatest FPS of all time? They rereleased Deus Ex? o.o

Deus Ex is for noobs.

Deus Ex is THE best FPS ever. First really good one of the whole FPS/RPG cross over :P great story, replayability up da butt. Only thing it lacked on release was a Multiplayer option which they added in a patch :D

That sucks.

Mine is an original as well, and last week it started whirring very loudly whenever its on for more than 15 minutes. Nervewracking.

No fair on the pre-emptive Firestreak attack. I haven't commented on the 360's shitty hardware in at least 4 hours. Online at least, offline I mostly hang out in front of gamestop, wearing a Ratchet costume, telling people not to buy the 360 and distributing pamphlets.

By the way, if you are intending to buy a system in this several week gap, the PS3's got some sort of secret walmart sale going down on Nov 24th, where you buy the 80 gig and walk out with 10 free blu-ray movies off the rack.

Can always ebay a few of those and buy the ps3 COD4 for during the wait lol.

Sorry all... the correct answer was.. Unreal Tournament 99. Thanks for playing.

I dunno. I'm goin' to have to say Goldeneye was until CoD4 hit. UT99 is amazing though but closely rivaled by Q3 Arena.

However, Ele flawed it up. You can't compare FPS to RPGs in the FP view. Oblivion on the same slate as Halo, Unreal, CoD, Timesplitters, etc... it just doesn't work.

As for the PS3 thing... PS3 is now reasonably priced and since it has CoD4 it is totally worth buying (Plus the reliability factor). The only problem with that is I like the Xbox controller, Live, and my friends on Live. I love the 360 and they have me hooked for better or worse. I'll pay the $279 to get the upgraded hardware 360 with nothing special added, I already have the HD, etc. I'll use it as a main and the waiting disaster they send me back as a back-up console for -when- my new 360 bricks. Knowing a product is eventually goin' to fail you, despite your efforts, and buyin' it anyway is beyond stupid, I know, but the 360 makes me happy so I'm willing to take the plunge again. I can't see owning both as a viable solution. If I was a fan of HD in anything other than my gaming, it would be, but I'm not. My Wii collects enough dust as it is and that's painful to me considering what else I could have gotten.

I think I would say Goldeneye. Back when it came out, and for a loooong time afterwards, that was everyone's FPS.

Ah but Deus Ex was a FPS :P and I kinda bundle System Shock/Deus Ex/Bioshock cause they are a lot alike and same developers even sooo ya... I just think your "greatest FPS of all time is released" is a funny statement cause NOTHING released (FPS-wise) lately I'd say is "greatest FPS of all time" XD good games, but greatest? pfft

I beg to differ with, well, everything.

Anyway, just got back with my new console. Cracked that bad boy open and it's a Falcon. Also was fortunate enough to be one of the people who get not only a Falcon model but a Falcon with a BENQ DVD drive. This will be standard on all consoles made in 2008 but right now it's a gamble. It runs ten times cooler and quieter than my other one. Here's to hopin' they got it right... finally.
