Finally...

I didn't say I didnt agree with FPS shooters being judged by mulitplayer. I just said single player half life> all. If you want to go by mulitplayer, well Halo seems to be the "best" FPS since im sure they have the most players, though I don't think it is the best.

And btw, Half Life series isn't just a renter. The single player campaign is long and just as good as any other rpg's, action/adventure, etc games out there.

We were talkin' to Ele on this. It wasn't brought on by what you said about Half-Life.

Also, on the Bioshock note, I also don't think it's worth the disc it's printed on. I spent about 2 hours with it myself and then watched someone play it all the way through. I wasn't impressed, I didn't care about the story, and too short for what it was suppose to be.

For FPS I've got to say overall the best single player has been COD4 this generation. That is... minute for minute. It's not that long but it's very enjoyable, which is what matters most for a FPS. Resistance is up there though, it's not nearly as pretty looking, nor does it feel nearly as real. Like people say, it's the Halo of the PS3, but they feel very different in action. When I play Halo I feel very out of sync with my character. I mean, the controls are tight, and everything, but I don't feel like a guy on the ground with a gun, I feel like I'm controlling the character on strings like a puppet... cause he doesn't move like people really move. On a technical level, Halo is the better game. It's got the better options, and the better online despite being peer to peer.
There's no real lag anyway. The 40 man deathmatches aren't all that needed, the numbers only help on games like Warhawk. Resistance just makes me feel like I am the character I'm playing though.

They're both head and shoulders over The Darkness, Jericho or whatever else has been churned out over this generation though, even though they both have their imperfections. Call of Duty 4 is the best of both of them, to me. I feel like I AM the character, like Resistance, and it's got the great balance, speed and refinement of Halo. The only thing is Halo you can play online splitscreen, which means when other people are over, that's the best online FPS. But if there are other people, Warhawk is the king, no questions asked. Being able to jump in and out of matches mid game, the screen splitting without a single interruption is just too good.

Pretty much anything I haven't mentioned isn't worth mentioning except Rainbow 6 is awesome and they just announced a 2nd which is great.

Vegas is the best shooter as far as realness/tactical. I still find myself loading up a terrorist hunt every once in awhile. The online customization on there was pretty sweet as well. I'm not gonna mention gears since its not FPS.

I do think Call of Duty is the best FPS in terms of multiplayer and only maybe beaten on single player by half life, but thats a close call. I still have yet to play crysis single player or online though which ill hopefully be able to do on friday, and from what i've heard it is amazing.

I dunno... cover systems are great for single player but online they just create a lot of boring camping. The level design is set up with so many choke points that you just put the pressure on a few from both sides and whoever is most impatient loses. That or you end up spending half the game running around aimlessly, and the first person to get spotted dies.

Idk, i never had problems like that, then again i was amazing at it and could take 4 on 1s. I ripped that game until i quit playing because you basically had to buy the map packs and i said fuck you.
