Hey well I don't use any other forums so you guys get the pleasure of answering my stupid questions.

1. Is there such a thing as a firewall detector? Ya know something that will scan the system and tell you what firewall is active?

2. If there isn't such a thing as a firewall detector, is there a good way to find where the hell it is if one is active?

See I've apparently had this firewall active. at first I was like oh it must be the windows firewall, but no, I turned that off and it's still telling me that there is one active. I've gone through the active processes and nothing on there looks like a firewall to me and I've never downloaded one before so...suggestions?

What is telling you that there is one active?

What Antivirus application/suite are you using? Most of those have a firewall system incorporated with them.

first thing that comes to mind is that limewire is telling him so.
i use limewire. its been having issues connecting for months now. says there is a firewall active when there actually isnt.

It's actually the blizzard downloader for WoW. I was using AVG 7.5 but I turned it off to see if that was the issue but the problem persisted.

Do you connect directly to the Internet or do you have a router?

Have you tried disabling Windows Defender? Not a firewall per se but it really depends what criteria Blizzard's app has for it to call something a firewall.

The blizzard downloader is glitched has been from day 1 it will say that you have a firewall up even if there isnt one....

Really? That might be it then, I've been scouring this computer looking and it's just not there. Yes I disabled windows defender in addition to the windows firewall. I won't sweat it until it comes up again.

If you are using a Router, it may have a firewall and require you to setup a port forward.

Blizzard's downloader primary port is 3724 according to their site.

If you have AVG disabled just setup an exception in Windows Firewall, that should give you a sure way to make sure it's open.

A little something I put together if you need assistance on it.

After 3 just enter the port you need. Good luck~
