Tonight I just defeated the HQ popped Gration solo on my second try (first was NQ), and just thought I'd share my good news with everyone! It was a 1hr 45min battle, and a test of endurance and skill.
If you're interested in the details of the battle, and not saying "YAWN, I could solo Gration in my sleep", kited Gration across the bridge and the waterfall lake near Sacrarium in Misareaux Coast, clockwise. Composure was up the whole time, because I figured, being a kited battle, I shouldn't need insane utsu recast anyway, and I'd rather stop for DoTs than for buffs. Barthunder, utsu (kept at full shadows, due to Grand Slam), stoneskin, pro/shell, haste, and refresh were kept on the whole time. Poison and Bio III (4 merits) were my primary means of damage, with periodic use of Bind + Nuke. No crimson legs, no dark magic skill gear. Near the end, I purposely lost hate in order to have a firm hold on the NM for the last 5%, and when it hit 1%, I popped Chainspell and nuked it to death. Oh, and I opened with a 300tp Spirits Within.
First solo battle over 30 minutes, and I have to say it is much different to fight under those kinds of circumstances. Good luck to any who are planning on attempting this fight in the future!
