Just curious where people fished during these levels as apparently it's one of the toughest gaps all the levels. Right now I'm doing ship from selbina to mhaura catch Bhefhel Marlin and the skill ups slower then I would have thought. There's a few other fish I've been trying like Gavial in gustaberg under the waterfall as well. Bite rate is a little lower but the skill ups seem to come faster.

Curious as to what everyone else did around this time.

thats what one would do pre-wotg. Now there is trumpet shells, cap at 63 , bite very often, and sell fast. It's your best option imo. They are used as a 'free' synth recipe by HL bonecrafter. they buy shells from the AH 18k a stack and make trumper rings and sell back to NPC for a break/even or slight profit/slight loss.

I tried Trumpet shells on the bridge about 4 levels ago and I didn't get one. I kept getting Jelly fish or items, it was a bitch. I'll go back now, hopefully the 4 levels will help out.

Thanks.

You might have been on a wrong spot. Check the 'great blue' site, its the best fishing site I'm aware off, with detailed maps of what fish you can get in what ponds /river/etc in the same zone. Robber rig catch trumpet shell the best ( just like shall shells basicaly if you did those). You're probably too low to catch soles, squid / grimonites without an albatros ring atm.

I'd say Trumpet Shells also, or target Noble Ladies more specifically on the ferry with a sinking minnow, as their cap is 66.

The thing about the ferry is that sometimes you only catch 3-4 fish a ride between other fish you don't want, items, monsters and you didn't catch anything messages. By the time that's up it's a wasted trip and it can be so frustrating.

I have both the Pelican and Albatros ring. I did do shall shells, those were a blast.

Ferry's not for everyone. ^^

Apparently.

Actually the ferry 'Open sea route to Al Zahbi' & back to Mhaura are the best for Noble Lady that I have found. The regular Selbina/Mhaura ferry you have to deal with too many other fish, sea horror, pirates and stuff.

The Al Zahbi/Mhaura ferry I catch Nobles all day long using only a minnow.
Anything other than one question mark is either Gugru Tuna or Veydal Wrasse which are both below cap (so cancel those)
This allows for strictly Noble Lady fishing.

Hope this helps.

Last night, I went on my first fishing trip since returning to the game. I was stuck in Yuhtunga Jungle after my party disbanded, so I threw up my flag and headed down to the pond near the SSG entrance.

Let me tell you, that place is crawling with monsters that would just love to eat a tasty little taru like me! The opo-opo's are harmless, but the Sagahins have sharp teeth and a nasty disposition, and the Makara are mindless killing machines.

I was nervous about getting eaten, and about whether I would remember how to fish after so many months' absence. But it all came back to me in a flash - the challenge of wearing down stamina, the instinct for figuring out what is on the other end of the line, the heart-thudding anxiety of recasting Sneak before something aggros, the joy of reeling in an Elshimo Newt and hearing that lovely splish plunk on a successful reel :)

Anyway, I am currently stuck at level 55, like Cua, and hadn't known about these Trumpet Shells. They sound wonderful, but I have a question. I do not yet have the WotG expansion. If I get it and install it, will I be able to go to Vunkerl Inlet right away? Or do I need to do some quest to travel into the past? I don't understand much about WotG or the new areas. Hell, I've never even been to Aht Urghan - I've spent my whole career on the main continent with the occasional trip to Elshimo.

Also, is sneak fishing possible in this location? My highest level job is 38 RDM, so unless I can hide from monsters I will get my face melted off >_>

Dont need to sneak fish in vunkerl, you fish overtop these big bridges without any mobs anywhere nearby.

Downside is you NEED lu shangs if you want a chance at mobs in vunkerl. Once you install the expansion you need to do a quick quest to set your hometown in past, then you can op warp to vunkerl.

There are robber crabs between op and the bridge though, so you'll need some way to sneak. Other than that, its an easy spot if you've got the lu shangs.

Edit: just saw your sig, you'll be fine

You dont need Lu shang to catch them ( My friend who pointed those out to me didn't have it and caped @ 63). What's more those crabs do not aggo.

Aye. Halcyon catches them just fine @ low 50s.

Didn't know the crabs didn't aggro, thats nice to know.

Be careful though! At night a couple ghosts spawn there two, and those guys aggro me!
