Flamboard Spam...

Seems like this is an old problem that's never been dealth with. People that jumped in, don't like the trash he talks and speak out against. God forbid anyone makes a comment any more though.
I think it went too far today with the rules. Maybe that's why I'm not modding that forum.

To be honest sneaky, Pere is reminicent of the o;d Ray Parker Jr/Ghostbusters theme song that I used to listen to on 45 as a kid. It was entertaining at first, but you can only hear the same thing so many times before it becomes really, really boring.

Perfect example of how a flame gets outta hand is mine on the Person below me forums game, came down to 2 people yelling at eachother for no reason.

nice to know that it was some new qcdn member with few post that decided there was something wrong with the flame board.

look you don't like it DONT READ IT.
There was nothing wrong with it, and to see such dramatic effects happen because someone new didn't like reading a few post.

maybe i'm just not understanding the "mods" logice behind it but i'm still kinda pissed about it.

sometimes topics are just better to be off topic they make better conversations to read. I am a huge fan of reading the flameboard at work, this better not ruin my reading material i've grown used to

There are actually a couple flameboard mods.
However, at 50 posts per minute or something like that I wouldn't expect mods to read every single post.

The biggest issue is though that it shouldn't require mod intervention.
Users should be able to follow the rules as they apply, and use common sense for situations for which there are no rules. Neither me nor the mods should have to babysit users.

i perfectly agree with that...i guess? lol but seriously, the moderators shouldn'y have to get involved 8)

New or not, I've moderated a dozen+ forums so I know how things are run in most. I just figure it would be easier to read and more ... enjoyable. Seeing the same person multiple times in a row is just stupid. Thats why 10 page flames hit 50+. No one wants to read 50 pages of 2 morons quintuple posting.

And still have to browse 50 pages.......

If more people bothered reading a thread as opposed to waiting until they see something that has probably already been addressed, getting huffy, then putting their collective feet in their mouths i'd imagine it wouldn't be such a big deal.

If 50 pages is too much to browse, chances are you shouldn't be reading that particular thread anyway, there are plenty of threads that make it there without outside encouragement.

Edit: i s'pose it wouldbe/has been kinda hard to ask people to exert self-control as a rule for posting though, it's not that i don't see your point.

Reading 50 pages is fine, if it's relevent. Seeing two people hijack the thread in a retarded flame war is not.

That's all based on the opinion of the reader. Sadly there are people who come to the boards for just that sort of thing ... well, at least they used to, for better or worse what's done is done over there and either people will stop looking for the useless garbage that entertains them or they'll find it elsewhere, it is a point of absolute ambivalence to me.

I think the main issue with self-control is that there was no measure as to how to apply it other than one's individual view on things.

The new rules give users a standard they can use when it comes to self-control, and they give mods and myself legitimacy when it does become necessary to take corrective action.

I would compare the rules to the speed limit. 55 mph in most states, yet everyone is going 65 and it's no problem. Every now and then someone is going 120, and the speed limit is in place to have an effective procedure to remove such drivers from traffic.

I haven't seen a 50 page thread since we switched the board server...

cause I use 20 posts per page so I don't have to load as often.

haha, I had to read through 25 less pages than you :bb:

The main problem: People don't want to use the ignore function in case someone talks bad about them, because they know for sure that anyone that talks bad about them can be easily ownd, there for giving the them E Penis +1.

You need to just start deleting posts. And you need to give a counter next to everyones name stating how many of thier posts have been deleted. That way everyone will know who to ignore. if you have to delete more than 100 posts give em a custom title. Like "Useless piece of shit" or "1337sa\/\/ce" or "Perigrine the Untidy".

That would be a lot of work. Lets just all laugh about how funny it would be if you did do that.

:jester:

Actually, I just realized something. I don't do any of this stupid shit yer talkin about, so do whatevers clever, I don't really care.

Good, you go run those don't say how qcdn needs to be run to fit your style. If your board was so popular we would be there now wouldn't we?

people rarely double post, its usually a reply because there isn't a chat function on here. sorry that doesn't fit your quota for "APPROVED"

Since when does no one entitle just your opinion? If you don't like it, don't read it not that hard of a concept. There are people that like to read the bickering back and forth for a good source of entertainment.

Hijack a flame? when its a flame? making it a flamewar? on the flameboard?
where is your logic there?
I'm so glad that you had to step into a forums system and decide how it needed to be run. Funny how so many people went against what you had to say, yet it still got* implimented. The flame board has lost a lot of good reading quality and potential good flames because of it. THANKS
