Welcome to the QCDN Flameboard!

YOU ARE UNABLE TO EDIT ANY POST YOU MAKE TO THE FLAMEBOARD.
WHAT IS SAID IS SAID, SO THINK BEFORE YOU POST.

The purpose of the Flameboard is to provide an outlet for any kind of game related grief, anger, or frustration you may have (occasional non game related flames are acceptable). The Flameboard is also the only QCDN area in which massivly foul language and personal attacks on other players are allowed.

Here is a quick overview of the kind of things that are not allowed on the Flameboard (please see below for a more detailed explanation):

- posting of personal information (self, and others)
- pornographic content, or links to such content
- self-flame threads
- thread crapping
- thread stalking
- thread derailing/hijacking
- thread necomancy
- thread betting

Posting of Personal Information

QCDN users have a reasonable expectation to privacy. If you know someone's personal information, such as: real name, home phone or cellphone number, street address, mailing address, work address, work phone, POL account ID, POL accout password, or any other kind of personal information (such as who fucked whom last night in real life and just how good it was), then keep that info to yourself.

Posting personal information of another user is a serious ethics violation and will result in immediate and non-revokable ban from QCDN.

Posting your own personal information will result in a warning for the first incident, and a ban for the next incident.

I realize that some QCDN users know each other in real life, and may perhaps take whatever issues they have to the board. This is perfectly fine as long as no personal information is disclosed in the process.

Pornographic Content

Some say porn is good, others say it's the same in and out and in and out. I don't care either way, if porn is what you need, then Google for it and go wild. There are plenty of good porn resources around, but there is no place for it here at QCDN.

Self-Flame Threads

"OMG I sukk, flame me!"
Not going to happen. Your thread will get locked, you will be warned once, and banned the next time around. I know you crave attention, perhaps becoming an interesting person rather than just trying to paint a bullseye on your back will be the solution to your problems.

Thread Crapping

Thread crapping is a generic term for all kinds of bullshit you can pull in a thread. For instance, you could add a post with the sole purpose to increase your post count (i.e.: "pc+1!"). Not acceptable!
You could make a post that reads "omgwtfbbqkkthxbai". Not acceptable!
You could make a post that has absolutely nothing to do with the ongoing discussion (i.e.: people bitch about the drop rates of the THF knife, and you add "I like cheese"). Not acceptable!

The above are just a few specific examples, they are not all inclusive, there are as many ways to crap in a thread as there are users.

Before you submit a reply to a thread, ask yourself whether what you are about to submit is of any value, or whether it adds absolutely nothing to the ongoing thread. This is a subjective call, use common sense, don't be an attention whore, make a thread worth reading!

Thread Stalking

When you hate another user with passion (no, not passions, passion!) then you might be tempted to follow the hated user around and reply to every single post they make telling them how much they suck and that you hate every molecule of them. While this may seem righteous to you, it's highly annoying to everyone else.

If you do feel strongly about someone, just make a thread about that person, and give us all the juicy details on what made you form your opinion, but do not stalk that person across threads.

Thread Derailing/Hijacking

Basically derailing or hijacking occurs when a user makes a post to a thread that does not relate to the subject the original poster is discussing. Examples of this would be someone talking about how a certain guild screwed them out of an item, and you adding a post saying that this guild does indeed suck because they wiped on a certain mob the night before. Both claims may be true, but they do not relate.

Feel free to express your views by making a new thread, with a descriptive subject line, and people will love you for it.

Often you will find yourself in a situation where the issue that was brought to the Flameboard has been resolved within the thread, but you would like to keep discussing a general principle that lead to the situation, or the resolution of the situation. Those kind of posts are in my personal opinion some of the most valuable ones as everyone has cooled down enough to make reasonable arguments - in a new thread! Maybe not even a Flameboard thread.

You see, once again you are asked to apply common sense, with very little guidance as to what is acceptable and what is not.

Thread Necromancy

Sometimes new QCDN users will bring up a really old thread. They usually do not realize that the thread is 6 months old, they were just excited to see their name in it and figured to reply.

Do not take any action. If you absolutely can not resist, then PM the one who resurrected the thread to let them know about their mistake. The mods or myself will usually spot resurrected threads quickly and lock the thread.

If you intentionally and repeatedly bring up old threads, then you will find yourself access restricted in no time.

Resurrecting old threads is annoying, often those who participated in the thread are not even around anymore. If you feel strongly about a subject that has been discussed a long time ago, then make a new thread about it, and perhaps reference the old one.

Thread Betting

This is a new one. Bets on how many replies certain threads will get.
Of course there is nothing I can do from preventing you to open a pool on the number of replies. I wouldn't want to stop you from doing that anyway. However, making your pool public is a big NO NO!

Publically acknowledging that there is a bet going will ruin the thread as people will do whatever they can to make sure that the thread will actually rise to whatever they placed their bet on. Not acceptable!

QCDN AUTHORITY

I love you man (you as in, the reader), but you as QCDN user have no authority over other users. That doesn't mean I, or the mods, think less of you. All that means is that even if you find someone in violation of the few rules we have, there is nothing you can directly do about it, which is why posting about it is pretty much useless. All you will achieve is that the one you called out will reply with calling you out for calling him out, and on and on it goes ...

I do want you to pay attention though, without users this board would be nothing, your contribution is not only valuable, but it is essential, and while it may at times not seem like it, the mods and I spend our time on this board for you.

If you come across a post, or a thread, that is clearly out of line, please don't play the QCDN police. Just send a PM to the mods of that particular forum and copy me on it, and we will take appropriate action as necessary as soon as we possibly can. You can send one PM to multiple people by using ; as separator.

Corrective Action

This is a pretty comprehensive list as to what can happen to you, your post, or your thread, if you decide to be a problem child.

Your post may be edited by a mod or myself.
Your post may be deleted by a mod or myself.

Your thread may be edited, or locked, by a mod or myself.
Your thread may be deleted by a mod or myself.

You will receive a PM from a mod or myself telling you that there is a problem with your actions and advise you to fix it. This is really just a friendly reminder, no need to get upset, just review the rules, review your actions, and take it from there.

You will be placed on 'Read-Only Access' status by myself. This means that you have full read access at QCDN, but you can not post anywhere. You can still send PMs or emails to users. If you find yourself in 'Read-Only Access', then the one and only way to restore your access is to talk to me.

The next, and final, stage is 'Perma-Banned'. A perma ban means just that, you are banned from QCDN, so are your children, their children, and any domestic animals you may have. If you get yourself banned, then there is no recourse, that decision is final and no amount of begging or promises to better youself will reverse it.

'Perma-Banned' is usually only given after a user had previously been on 'Read-Only' and screwed up yet again. QCDN has been online since April 2004, and with currently over 3,400 registered users only 31 unique users are perma-banned (some of which were spam bots back when the board was still running phpbb). This should illustrate that I don't make the decision to ban people lightly, but once it is done, it is done!

About Flameboard Mods

All QCDN moderators are volunteers who do not receive any kind of compensation for thier efforts. Instead they usually get shit for doing their job. There are currently two Flameboard moderators. Adding moderators became necessary after the thread and post volume exceeded the amount I could keep up with.

Moderators have the ability to edit posts, edit thread titles, lock threads, move threads, soft-delete posts, and soft-delete threads. Soft-delete means that the post or thread is not actually deleted, but removed from public view. The moderators and myself can still see the content of the post of thread.

Moderators do not have the ability to restrict a users access to QCDN, only I can do that.

A moderator is the primary authority of the forum they moderate. If a moderator reminds you of the rules, consider it the same as if I were to remind you of the rules.

If you ever have a substantiable problem with any QCDN moderator, please contact me directly describing the circumstances in the greatest possible detail, and I will get to the bottom of the issue.

Flaming the QCDN mods or admin

Mods or myself are not exempt from flames. If you search the Flameboard you will find plenty of posts or threads that read "Sculli sucks!" "Sculli you fag, you bitch, you biatch, you biaeoutch, you whatever". That's fine, you are entitled to your opinion, however wrong it may be. Just make sure you do not violate any Flameboard rules when you do take on mods or myself, for we will be watching extra closely!

The End

Well then, thanks for reading through all this, I honestly didn't think you would. I am impressed.

The current Flameboard mods are CubsWoo and Asiamise. Please contact them or myself with any questions, concerns, or suggestions you may have. You can send a PM to all three of us at once if you use the ; character as separator between user names in the PM recipient field.
