I'd like to continue this discussion, without insulting anybody so that my thread isn't subsequently locked. With that being said, I stumbled across this little "Tidbit"...

Shouldn't someone who is on read-only access have less rights than someone who isn't? It makes sense. She screwed up, not Eulore.

Also, the thread that My quote came from, was about a legitimate in-game topic. If I saw...say Peregrine (Just an example) in game, and saw him flee hacking and warp hacking, and then came here and said "Hay guys, Pere flee's and warp's!"...would that be locked also?

In all honesty, flaming a member who has been banned is kind of pointless, since it is going to be nothing but insults towards said person. We already know that the person is an ass clown just by getting banned, there is no need to reinforce what we already know.

I'm with Tim. I don't see the logic. If nothing more, just leave those threads as a warning to people that haven't been playing since NA release and don't know who Vang the Wang is, or why he's calling people RMT.

I will be honest that I was the one who really pushed for this rule to be kinda enforced. This was back when Windy was being banned left and right and people just kept flamebaiting her knowing she viewed the boards, which would start a whole thing ensuing with her coming on a different name, and then having to ban her, and then getting PMs that are whoa so angry...

The following is a new and updated set of guidelines for the Flameboard. These guidelines will be as crystal clear as possible, and if any of them are broken, action will be taken.

1) Flames (in any way, shape, or form) are to be kept to the Flameboard only. If there is a flame made in any other forum, it will be deleted.

2) The Flameboard is for in-game and game-related occurances only. Anything else will be moved to their appropriate forum (or deleted, pending the thread).

3) This forum is not to be used to flame or harass someone's real life. Any thread that contains something pertaining to someone's real life (even if it was self-brought on, ex. the Isotope thread), it will be locked.

4) Any threads that are necro'd for any reason will be locked.

5) Any post or thread that contains pornographic or NSFW material will be deleted.

6) Joke Threads: Yes, they are funny, but they do not belong on this forum. Please make those thread under another forum such as General Discussion, Good Times, or Off Topic. If they are made here, they will be moved to their appropriate forum.

7) Sock Puppets: Should one pop up in a flame, you will be PM'd by myself or another moderator to reveal yourself to the thread - or we will do it for you. If you are not a sock puppet however, then all's well. Suspicious though that an account is made only to post in a flameboard topic, right?

There will be no toleration for any broken guidelines and these will be enforced equally. If these can be followed, then there will be no problem.

Precedence was set when the Peregrine thread (after the vang thread) was locked after 2 pages for the reason of not posting towards banned members. I called the mods on it, where they decided this was now a rule, so the next banned member to get flamed was locked.

They really need to get on the same page, because there have been threads BY banned members using sock puppets that were allowed to drag on.

We have had the same group of Mods for a while, and you would expect they would be fairly consistent with their locks, but we still get the occasional "i'm liking this because I feel like it, if someone(mods as well) wants it unlcocked go ahead(unlock for mods or PM for non-mods)"

If you can't flame someone who was banned because they cannot defend themselves how long before you can't flame anyone or anything because they're not present to defend themselves?

What about flames about non-members entirely?

If the issue is more work for mods because of sock-puppets and recurring posts from banned members which ammount to nothing more then the text equivalent of diahrea on my screen then i can dig but unfortunately alot of the members here require much more finetuning on the language of the rules simply because good judgement is hard to find from post to post.

More's the pity on both counts.

A lot of flames that are directed towards someone that is not a member of QCDN, who later only joins QCDN to respond to that flame. Should those not be allowed either because the person can't respond to the flames initially?

personally I like flames about banned members. I was thinking of taking bet money how long it will take untill they respond.

I think the longest is like 30 pages in the vang thread. I don't think anyone saw that coming. I would have guessed like 5 pages top xD

Yes, the rule is no longer there. Threads in the past that have been locked because of that rule will remain locked, but future ones that are made will not be. Reason I say this is, there are enough guidelines as is, and if a user here wants to make a thread on someone when they know full well they've been banned or are not part of QCDN (we can tell who's a sock puppet and who's a new user altogether), I say go for it. Personally I think it's nothing more than a cheap shot, but that's up to you.

I say this as moderator of the FB, not as a global mod.

If there's no point in flaming banned members, then there should be no threads about them, and no rule would be needed, amirite?

Like I said, if someone wishes to choose to flame someone who does not have the ability to respond, that's your choice.

They always do though. Mostly because the banned people are way to hotheaded to not read the fourms.

To this day, I still expect Peregrine to make a sockpuppet every time a dynamis thread pops up.

I don't see a problem with flaming non-QCDN members. I mean if someone's shit or a generally bad person, people deserve to know about them. They shouldn't get some sort of immunity just because they don't post here.
