Patriots win 38-35 over the giants. Both teams, despite the risk of injury and sabotage of achieving a championship, played their starters the entire game as the Patriots fought to rewrite history and the Giants fought to stop it. I gotta say, that was one hell of a fuckin' game. Also, note other records: 1st team to go undefeated with the salary cap, 1st team to go 16-0 in a season (Miami was a 14 game reg. season in 72), Brady all-time TD's in reg. season (Beat Manning, previous was 49), Randy Moss broke Jerry Rice's record for most receiving touchdowns in a season (Previous was 22 held by Rice), and the Patriots are now the all-time highest scoring team in a regular season. Mind you, they did this with mostly cast off "aged" veterans composing their team. A bit of luck with injuries and the huge advantage of experience and intelligence helped them win this season. I gotta say, since my team is out of the playoffs... It's hard not to want them to win, even though they beat my team by 3 points in the Super Bowl back in '04.

This thread reminds of the "Dewey defeats Truman" headline pictures from my American history books.

I cant wait to see them lose in the first round in the playoffs. Since they beat the colts it has been my storybook ending... Go 16-0 and lose in the first round.

Well that's simply impossible seeing as though the Pats are already out of the first round and can't possibly face the Colts in the second round.

Eh i understand that they have a bye on the first round that they play and just because i am a colts fan does not mean that i think that the colts have to be the ones that knock them off. however if it does come down to a game between the colts and the pats in the 3rd round... i will be more than happy to watch them go down in flames.

Going 16-0 and losing in the playoffs would be a fitting end to their season, esp if they lost at the hands of the Colts! Although it would be even more awesome if the bears were playoff bound and could knock the pats off in the super bowl... but who am i kidding that's just a pipe dream =/.

Pats are gonna be playing the Jags in the 2nd round then the Colts in the Conference finals. I don't see the Jags beating them, but the Colts have a decent shot. It doesn't matter though, Packers are gonna win the Super Bowl this year.

I disagree, as a Pats fan, I'm more scared of the Jags than the Colts.

Boy you sure sound like you're sure it's gonna happen.

Why would that be fitting? They have succeeded in a perfect regular season, a fitting end would be to win it all. I love how it's the bandwagon thing to boo the Pats chances for success. Sure they've felt the pressure and folded a little in the past couple games, but there is nothing saying they don't deserve to win it all.

I don't think other teams will just hand it to them, but to say that it's fitting that they lose to any team other than the dolphins is just silly. They've broken just about every record on the books it seems this season and still have a lot of potential for the post season. I think the Giants game really showed what they have to do to keep their perfection alive and I know Brady will step up to the duty in front of him.
