Aight, I've personally had it. The last few days i've heard non stop bitching from just about everyone about how the auction house is looking right now.

Let me say something, half the fuckers complaining are out of line, y'all want the inflation to stop? Quit fucking buying gil with every paycheck you fucking get, because I'll tell you what, I personally dont give a shit about what you do to the economy by doing it, i'll get by, always have, but when folks buy so much fucking gil, and then complain all the damn time about the 'economy' in this game rising to unheard of levels, it drives me bonkers.

Word is, if you dont like the way things are rising in price, leave your fucking wallet away from IGE, because all you're doin is giving others a reason to complain about the prices on shit.
Inflation happens, quit fuckin crying about it. Drives me absolutely nuts to have to read all the damn time whines and complaints from fuckers all damn day long, who have all that shit anyways. You dont like it, quit buyin it.
simple.

Yeah. I was going to buy that Nanban Kariginu (Lv30 NIN body), and someone put it up for like double price. I wasn't going to buy that! Screw you, whoever put that up for auction! If anyone buys that, they're only influencing EVERYONE doubling the price because it shows they can get away with it? Why? Because you're right, they do buy gil!

Xromeox was telling me to stop bitching about it last night and to buy gil.

I don't recall him telling you to buy gil. Maybe that was in tell. I do recall trying to point you into the direction of Rolanberry Fields where you could easily go farm beehive chips or silk threads and easily compensate the price of the item that you were wanting to buy. Instead, I think you felt it better to stand at the auction house and complain about the price.

Consider just for a moment that if you went out to rolanberry fields or any other area (I mention that place because it is so close to jeuno) and started to farm.. maybe just one stack of silk and one stack of chips.. you'd have said item. Now, you want the price of that item to come down? When you farm the chips, you put more wax into the economy, which puts more sneak oils into the economy, which thus makes it that much cheaper for the person to go out and kill said monster for said item.

On one side of the coin you might feel that the guy who is going out to kill said monster is a jerk for lifting the price up a bit. I suppose the same is said when minum wage is raised in real life even if they can no longer pay the rent by current economic difficulties. If it costs a person X amount for their food, then their tools, then their oils/powders or whatever they're using-- they have to compensate some how-- which means by you in jeuno doing nothing-- inadvertantly add to the problem. In the amount of time you spent debating the cost of the item you could've easily made that gil. You could even so much as make that gil by tele-porting people.

You boycot the price-- so you don't buy the item. I commend you for not supporting price hiking, although, I honestly suggest for just one instance to go look at the root of the problem. When I got into the stage of the game where I wanted HQ staves for my SMN I was baffled by the price. It was doubling almost daily it seemed. So I did research to break it down, and even so much as talked to some people-- and it is so simple as tree cuttings doubling in price as well. Everyone wants/needs a piece of the "pie."

Majority of your players are doing end-game now. Everyone assumes someone else is farming these critical items that are needed. You can't make sushi without fish, you can't make a cape without thread. If you want to fix a problem you start at the bottom-- these "gilsellers" certainly are.

You don't like the price of these high demand items, ie SH, Vermy, HQ this or that.. don't buy them! You don't have to! If you think "gilsellers" are controling the market of a said item.. boycot it.. or pay someone else. Believe it or not most items will work just as effectively.

Just like in real life.. you do have choice. It's a BUYER's market. Go with brands you trust -- and yes, even if it does mean paying a bit more. You know how Walmart manages to sell for less?.. yah, gilsellers work the same way. Go down to the mom & pop store down the road and pay a lil' bit more. Same reasoning applies. But, then again, many will disagree with me. And that is fine, but I do stand by my conviction on this. Each person plays a part in the way the economy works in real life and in game.

Of course, there's an added bit of complexity to this whole mess. In addition to the whole major recent price spike, there are people attempting to counter the trend by spamming the AH with spurious sales. Yoshindor recently tried to slash the price of DS ingots by half, for example, to absolutely no avail last time I checked. Probably because he tried to do so by cutting the price on ingots rather than going to the source of the problem, namely the ore. 300K/stack for ingots is reasonable when ore is selling for 20k each. Given that the last time I looked it was around 50K each, you're NOT going to be able to adjust the price on ingots.

I think Sandria is right to an extent. Not enough people are farming anymore, so the price of certain goods will go up as a result. Silk thread, DS ore, Beehive chips, slime oil, all sorts of fun stuff that just isn't being farmed at the rate it used to be. One of the various reasons I'm hoping against hope to see a serious influx of new players from the 360 release.

On the other hand, I DO think that there has been an Xmas surge in gilbuying. Buy more gil, gilsellers raise prices, people buy more gil to afford item, repeat until we're in a serious mess. :/

I'm going to point out that this is completely irrelevant to the post I made at the top. I dont care about the economy rising, that's not my issue. My issue, is folks buying gil, and complaining that the prices on shit rises as people have more gil to throw at it. That's fine, buy your gil, i'll make money off the things you buy with your IGE gil anyways, but if you're gonna buy the damn gil, keep your mouth shut about inflation. Fucking bandwagon mother fuckers.

Obviously everyone who complains about the economy buys gil.

Not intended to sound like that, but the basic principle is, to the general public. A vast majority of folks buy a shit load of gil every week or so, i'm willing to bet on it. Try and catch someone admitting it though =)

Why doesn't someone just call the cops on IGE? They're doing two things illegal:
1. They're selling gil, which is clearly against the law in SquareEnix's rules.
2. They're holding a monopoly to drive the other gilsellers out. I don't know about America and all other countries; but in Canada, monopolies are illegal.

I was in a PT where 3 of the 6 members admitted to buying gil. I almost ate my own face after that.

Because gil buying is what keeps players in a game unfortunately.

It also screws up our economy and makes people like WoW better than FFXI so it makes even more people want to leave.

There are only a handful of people that leave because the economies are screwed. There are thousands of players that get by from buying gil.

Have you ignored the couple dozen threads where people showed that it's not the gil buyers/sellers that's the real cause of the problems with the economy? There's still goldfarming in WoW, it's in every MMO. FFXI has just been around for longer so there's more gil to sell. WoW's economy is a joke, you can get to 60 without ever touching the AH easily; money is practically meaningless.

Sorry dude, but dont get off topic, this is a flame about the rather hilarious complaints of others non stop.
Two things.
I dont give a shit that IGE sells gil, they can do that, sure its fuckin illegal, but you know what, its turned into a thriving business. Keep in mind, i personally dont give a shit if people buy gil, i dont hold folks hostage in that regard, when people buy gil, and prices on things go up, I make money. Period.
As far as a monopoly on other gil selling companies go, I gotta ask, are you stupid? Seriously, its an internet web site. What do other companies do to companies of a similar nature selling similar or equally identical products? They drive the others out of the competition by lowering prices, increasing the rate at which they obtain the product, and then out advertise the other said company.
Tell me how thats a monopoly Thinikk, think about that shit before you post off topic on my rant.
Point is, fuckers whine and complain about prices. I've said this twice now, ill say it again to prevent further derailing.
Half the folks out there, speaking generally, buy this shit in mass quantities, now that doesnt go to say I have any hard evidence of such, but I am willing to be it happens, for reference, i just checked prices on said gil, for our server.
You know what? 24$ for fucking 4 million, and folks wonder why shit is rising in price. Lol, keep buyin that shit, it will keep lowering in price, and in turn folks will buy more and more and more. My issue, is they in turn complain about the steadily rising price of the economic values on shit as a whole.
Buy your gil! But keep your goddamn mouth shut about the price hikes on the auction house. I see at least 30 people in /say everytime i take a visit to town about the recent prices on things, and it drives me nuts.
Stfu already.

I should also add that because so many players have fallen upon such bizarre amounts of gil recently it's either because they have gotten their hands upon christmas money(like my folks used to give me instead of something i wanted), or something along the lines of that. IGE even made some banners about buying your friends and family game money for the holidays, so perhaps their sales went up quite a few remarkable notches over the past two months. This is only any assumption though.

1. They are not selling the gil itself, they are selling the time it takes to aquire the gil.

2. They are not holding a monopoly, Have you seen how many diffrent gilselling ad's there are? look at ffxiplayers.com

Just from looking at peoples pictures you get atleast 3-6 diffrent companys ads on your screen..

In Canada, lowering prices to put others out of business, then later increasing prices and screwing up everyone is called a monopoly. That's exactly what IGE is doing, and that's exactly what I'm calling illegal.

Oh and since this probably only a holiday thing, it would be safe to say these prices won't be permanent for most things.
