Food = Elitist?

I've had a pt 50+ with a pld using Meat jerky.

I LOL'D (caps)

I cant lie I can excuse some ppl not eating food sometimes. Like mages in the right pt set up that don't really need food. but is say for any melee food is manditory. rdms enfeebles most cases have no probs sticking to xp mobs.

Well....I guess this explains the weird incident that happened to me a few days ago when I was in Yhoat lvling pld (yes taru pld).

I don't think I've ever had an issue with people not eating food, except when they run out. But the other day I got a pt in Yhoat and as soon as I got to the camp I popped a Fishkabob. As soon as I did that a huge cheer went up from the rest of my party members. Was a wall of txt saying "HOLY SHIT!!! YOU EAT FOOD?" "OMG THIS PLD IS ALREADY AMAZING!!" "WOOOOOOO XP!!!" Apparently the pt had been together most of the day except for a tank. They had gone through 3 other plds and not a single one of em used food.

Hell...I was using food from day 1 as pld. I started off by making my own boiled crayfish which was only a small def boost. I know fishkabobs aren't the absolute best, but they're far from crap and even farther from nothing at all. As a taru pld I don't see how it's possible to not eat food. You're going to be taking a good chunk of dmg each hit, even with a crapload of def and vit gear, that it's a necessity for food.

Biggest reason I use fishkabobs is at my lvl (34 now) deaths can be frequent, and I'd rather not waste a bunch of food/money/inventory on 3hr food. And since the only job I have lvled high is bard, farming is exceedingly difficult to do.

<.< Orange juice is dirt cheap to make and only need cooking at skill 10. I always have like 8 stacks of oranges for juice. It's only 30 mp...but it helps in emergencies or between quick pulls

I think I've seen a VG cats comic regarding PT members cheering them on for eating food...lol

I think food is a MUST for anyjob, no matter what you are. Food is only going to allow you to play your job better, so without it you are just average.

Food doesn't make the player good. It helps yes, but the player also needs to know what the hell they are doing when playing their job. Food is what can bring you to a slightly better stats, but if you suck at a job then food isn't going to do shit.

I've always played whm or bst, so I've never really needed food. The food I get for whm only helps at the very beginning of the party. The only time I get food for BST is when I'm in a normal party. Any other job, I'd expect to have food. I don't have a problem with getting food as long as people aren't expecting me to have the +1 shit. You can suck my balls. I'm not paying 10x the price for 1% extra accuracy or 10 extra mp.

Actually a lot of WHM food helps with mp regained per tick of resting, rather than max mp, so it continues to help, just depends what you eat. And for BST you might want something that gives you extra mp or VIT, but that's your call soloing if you dont think its worth it. And I usually only get +1 food if the cost is not much more than double the regular one since it lasts twice as long.

PS - Love the Ron Paul sig. I've been a libertarian for almost ten years now.

Honestly, I never use food on my rdm...and if that it's sweet rice cakes >.>

If and when I'm in a party I'm usually main healing anyways with little chances of resting for the most part.

and when I'm debuffing...most of my debuffs tend to stick anyways.

I usually use Goblin Mushpot for RDM. 1k for 3 hours and +10 mnd makes "usually stick" a higher percentage.

Finally internet! Been too damn long...

Tried goblin mushpot, roast mushroom and mushroom stewon RDM. Only used pie on BLM. Maybe I'll pick up a pie for RDM some day. Yeah, pie.... being taru makes you lazy in some respects. Preferred MND enfeebs, got food for 'em.

For melees food is a must, for mages... I find not being able to directly 'see' the effect of spells such as Paralyze or Slow makes some people feel they don't need it.

Sometimes if I'm main healing on RDM, I'll slap on some MND gears and eat a marron/bijou glace. I just like a big MP count personally, but that only work for me on SMN and WHM. When I have to enfeeb I use mush pots and brain stew was one I think.

Food won't be "required" on mage jobs until we get the equivalent of sushi/red curry for spells, which of course will never happen.

I like to use Mushroom Stew/Maron Glace/Crimson Jelly(rarely, for magic burst with skillchain parties) mainly for the max MP when using Convert.
Usually PTs I get are efficient enough where I dont have to /rest or /convert, those parties I go without food and it makes no difference in enfeebles and max mp doesn't matter.
