Ok, I was typing a really long post but accidentally refreshed he page so everything is lost, so here's the short version:
It's simply too much to take in to consideration. For RDM soloing, you have to consider the situation, what sub you have, what mob type it is, what the time it takes, what damage the mob do per hit, how fast he attack, what his evasion is, what accuracy he have, what strategy you're going to use, what equipment you have, what stats you need, what DEF/magic defence the mob have, what the monster is immune to, what he's strong to, what he's weak to.
Well, that might be mainly to think of a strategy to use, but many of those you need to consider when choosing a food for soloing as RDM.
For WHM it's much easier, since you mainly need as much MND and MP as possible, and MPh. Although it depends. For BLM it's mainly INT and MPh. MP is really not as neccesary.
The other jobs I don't know since I don't have them high enough to really be "allowed" to make an oppinion about it, since it would be invalid in the eyes of others ;P
It's really not too much to take into consideration in a party situation. As a melee, you should have a damage set, an accuracy set, attack food, and accuracy food. As THF, you need accuracy and DEX/AGI gear, since they do damage through TP gain and SATA, not normal hits. This applies at level 10, it applies at level 75, and everywhere in between. Combining gear swaps and appropriate food are how a melee does damage instead of just looking spiffy and hoping nobody notices that he does less damage than the THF per hit.
Good example of this.
I was leveling NIN yesterday, just dinged 37, yes I know my sig is in need of an update, I lost the source file. Anyway, our BRD disconnected and we went on with 5 members. I had to get going soon, so they invited another NIN, an elvaan (I'm Mithra, less STR). He used Squid(?) Sushi, I used Mithkabobs like always. Just by looking at our damage, my swings were way above his damage, like a third more, and there wasn't too much accuracy difference between us, judging by how often his WS's went off. Our gear, by the way, was identical in DD ability, and his weapons only had 1 less damage than mine.
Yes, it's low level, but I think it makes the point rather nicely. If you have the gear to actually hit the mob most of the time you swing, you don't need sushi. At low levels, the mobs dont' have enough evasion for sushi to be needed unless you're waaaaaay overhunting. And at the high levels, there's so much accuracy gear available, again, you don't need sushi unless you're overhunting even worse (or fighting toramas / annoying THF-type mobs). Mid levels, hey, you still don't need sushi if you have good gear. Sushi works for people like THF, it does -not- work for people who want to make big numbers without SATA - WS.
And yea, I kinda ignored the RDM bit, because that's far more gear-related than food.
