Captain! We have a breach of stupid in the thread! I'll do my best to quarantine it.
Next you're going to say that rape only happens because people are horny and can't get laid, and control has nothing to do with it.
Speaking of "phailing", here's a concept you seem to fail to understand. Scope.
For example: guy walks into a store, steals a $1 pack of gum.
1 million guys walk into a different store, each stealing a single $1 pack of gum.
$1 theft vs. $1 million theft. Can't be compared. Completely different. Err wait, no. They're *strikingly* similar. In fact, arguably the biggest two differences are the financial hit, and the amount of time it takes to recover from said financial loss. So the scope of the damages is higher on the $1 million theft. Common sense, no?
Example 2:
We have 2 renovation projects here. We'll call them Project A and Project B for simplicity's sake.
Project A: You go to a Tree Garden, pick up a sapling, and plant it in your front yard. So you need a shovel, some work gloves, a truck, and that's about it.
Project B: You go to a Tree Garden, and for some reason, you buy a fully grown Oak. You'll need a heavy duty truck to ship it in, probably a crane to lift it in and out of the truck, machinery to dig the giant hole, a carefully planned route if you're going through the city (ie no overpasses, tunnels, etc.), more than one person. There's a lot more things to worry about, and it'll take a lot more time, money and effort to carry out Project B versus Project A. Thus the scope of the project is bigger.
So it takes more time to move a fully grown Oak tree, than a sapling. Again, common sense to the rescue.
Let's do a relevant example. For argument's sake, that influenza and pnuemonia have the same early symptons. So it would be difficult to tell one from the other in the early stages of the disease. However when it progresses, the symptoms became far worse than the flu would account for. The same symptoms mind, but just worse. Like a comparison between headaches and migraines. That's kind of what I mean here. Stealing basically your entire FFXI item career, is like the flu, whereas being sexually abused is like pnuemonia.
Flu is rarely fatal in modern times, but pnuemonia has a much higher fatality rate. (Yes I'm aware influenza killed more people in 1918 than WWI.)
We, in the English language, call these concepts "analogous". Meaning you can draw analogies between the two. There are legitimate comparisons to be made (apples & pears vs. apples & oranges). You can draw parallels between the two.
Now let's read your post again. You're saying that you have had an item, or items stolen from you in past in much the same fashion as Neo. But that you didn't need to go see a psychiatrist, and a fair percentage of sexually abused victims do. So you're saying that the psychological damage from having an item stolen from your account was less than being sexually abused? So the scope of the damage is less. Great Odin's Raven, you might be on to something.
So in one small post, you managed to not only prove a point for me (albeit one I didn't think needed proving because it was goddamned blatantly obvious, but I'll give credit where credit is due), make yourself look like an idiot and a liar (how can I be failing when you're elaborating on the very same statement without changing it?).
You might not get this whole comparison/analogy/metaphor thing, but damn, can you ever multitask.
