For all you Japanophiles

Sense of beauty does not necessarily only pertain to how they dress. Some do dress like sluts and then there are some who do not. It's pretty much the same as here in the states. I've seen some guys wear outrageous stuff and they looked like complete idiots in my opinion.

You know why some girls do dress slutty? Some do it for attention, some do it so they can prostitute themselves to get money for things like expensive hand-bags, clothes and such.

This has been a problem in Japan for quite some time now. I'm also guessing this problem would never go away if the men there can't keep their crotches in control and don't do any business with them.

I wasn't talking grown women only, I was talking more about 12-13 year old Japanese girls dressing with skirts shorter than hell. I know things are getting a bit more outta control here with those ages but I've not really seen as many here as I've seen there at that age that dressed like that :|

I do know what you are talking about.
I went to a public high school in Japan and granted the area where I lived was far from Tokyo but it still had that aspect where some girls wore their skirts so high that it only covered their underwear when they were standing.
When you bow to the teacher to greet them there was a good chance that people could see it.
Still those girls didn't care.

I havent gone back to Japan recently so I don't know what its like there now. Maybe stuff has escalated, I don't know.

But still I remember the shock of a couple of years ago when I saw at the mall the little girls section some underwear and some of them were thongs...and that's in the states. I haven't seen that in Japan...yet >.> <.<

yeah... I can't believe they're encouraging people below 10 to use thong <.<; I've seen that in Sweden too >.<

Don't ask me why I was in the little girl's section at the mall...

Elem, like Rae stated above, sense of beauty, im referring to aesthetics doesn't pertain to fashion (think architecture, NOT HOUSES, lol, and light displays and so on). . . which also brings me to something u just mentioned. Your friend lives on an AF Base, thatd be the problem. Im assuming ur friend is in Misawa, heh, im actually going up there for Christmas to visit a friend to celebrate Christmas, her birthday, and go snowboading, yaaay. Anyway, culture around the AF Base is a little different. One thing is that the girls DO dress a little more slutty because well . . . the handsome and reverred hakujin are there of course. They're trying to lure the "obeijin" to them. Your talking about the super short shorts, knee high stilleto (sp?) boots, an tank or tube top, and if theyre slightly modest, a coat. You'll see that more around the bases than in the countryside and cities. Granted, you still see girls dress like that in Kyoto and such, where i live, but not nearly as much. The main fashion here seems to be either a long skirt and a lot of frilly things, black tights under a denim skirt, or vice versa, denim jeans under a black stretchy skirt thing. The MAIN problem that i think there is with fashion is that its very uniform.

In regards to the guy tearing the clothes off a woman, I dunno how long ago that was but *shrugs* its not so much a case of peversion but a case of shitty law enforcement. The police force here is a joke, and often times makes inefficient use of its man power (10 cops to pull one guy over on the street?) Trust me, there are more example I can give, but its not so much sexism as it is poor law enforcement. The main place I see sexism is in the work place.
If you want more examples of bad law enforcement just to get an idea of what I'm tlaking about, ill tell you, but id rather not add fuel to the fire right now since it seems like some people really arent focusing on japanophiles but instead are focusing on their "dislike" of Japan.

The occupational forces weren't so looked up upon when there was a raping of a teenager down in Okinawa I remember.

I know that made my blood boil when I heard of that and that was when I was in junior high.

i love the Japanese haha i wish i could go over there and watch there tv hehe so great sick yet great ^^ i only say that couse i just saw the links and such man the tv there is insane mabye one day ill got here and see for my self how different it is

Actually . . . HG is rarely on TV anymore. He still is, just not that often. He's losing popularity here while he's gaining it in the states. There are still fans here though.
